Great game.
Love the game. I am a big Wing Commander Privateer fan and this game scratches that itch. :)

Casually Enjoyable
I think this game is a solid 3/5, This falls into the bracket of arcade adventure which is what I was after personally but the gameplay loop itself dose become very repetitive very fast. The music selection is quite literally that of a tradtional GTA style radio select whic lets you pick many genres to suit your mood, that's probably the best vibe of the game. The actual flying around each map point is pretty meh at best, theres very little to explore on your own, you honestly spend most of your time flying in warp mode instantly warping from point to point and watching the same ship fly by animation. It's not the most immersive experience and its very fast which really adds to the repetitivness. On this point fundamentally the game lacks pace plain and simple. the combat is ok, it's reasonably fun and fast paced. I enjoyed the missle usage and the explosions but I honestly spent a lot of time not even really knowing what I was doing but somehow winning. the side activities are there, you can mine, buy low sell high, take transport jobs, take bounty hunter jobs you can even play pool in the bars for money which is fun. It all sounds great on paper but the problem is really the flying and how repetitive it is and how little time you actually spend doing that, again from point to point you're mostly warping, you get to a system with rocks to mine, fly a short distance to them lazer them really fast and scoop up the mats, then you're in your local map again looking for a new belt to go and then again watching the same warp animation. Thats pretty mucht he gameplay loop for everything. on a personal note, I don't find the main character intersting at all and the immersion breaks down further from not being able to chose to play as a dude. I reccomend to buy on sale because the game was offically abandoned, theres a fun game in there but it loses it's appeal pretty quick.

Great game with minor flaws
This is a fun, arcade space sim with great controls, excellent graphics and a unique style all its own. If I had to change three things it would be as follows 1) let me create my own character (Juno is fine, but she is a really tired trope at this point) and 2) improve the AI of the enemies rather than trying to overwhelm you with eight opponents at once (more on this later), and 3) let all the ships be more generally available instead of more than half of them locked behind a hidden and somewhat tedious quest chain. Otherwise, this game is awesome. The good: The controls are top notch, and the game's performance is impressive given the minimal specs needed. Some complain about it, but I really like the auto follow feature. It doesn't really aim for you, it just makes it easier to follow your opponents which can get annoying quickly in other titles. Plus, you can turn it off. Also, the graphics are surprisingly detailed when you start paying attention. Guns sheer away chunks of armor, scarring the hulls of capital ships while you are shooting them, space stations might have tree-filled domes, and spacecraft are literally covered with little details. This universe feels lived in. Its a generational improvement over the previous game. I also like the setting and story, even if it's somewhat derivative of Firefly. The universe plays like a western, original star wars, which is fine by me. The not so good: The game can be a big grindy and the best ships are locked behind a completely hidden quest chain that takes place in the Eureka system that you would never know about unless you listen carefully to the in game radio. These ships should be available at more places as they are much more interesting than the standard fair. I also feel that the bounty hunting missions must be gamed as they are unfair with eight enemies hit scanning you. Finally, I would prefer to create my own character. Overall this is a great space shooter that is not to be missed if you enjoyed Freelancer.

A flawless space combat game
It is clear that the developers are fans of the Privateer saga. I really liked the first Rebel Galaxy and actually fell short of it. This second part is even more exciting considering that the way of piloting is not like in a warship (which is how it was the first) but as a combat between space fighters. The soundtrack is much more varied than in the first Rebel and the only thing that I miss and that was always present in the Privateer, is being able to escape from a combat zone using the afterburner, it seems that here it is impossible. For me, an impeccable video game
