Tribute to fighting movies!
The game is really fun to play, the way you rise to the top is inspired by the Rocky series. If you loved those movies from the eighties this is a must play. The game definitely deserves a sequel, which i hope it will be made soon :).Another plus is that this game is one of a few boxing games there are on the PC, which is sad :|.So, if you're in a fighting mood this is the game for you!

Well made old school sim
I've spent some time with the game, tried different variations and I think I can review this properly. This game brought me back to the times when I was spending evenings on Newgrounds playing those old flash games, simulators included. There were a lot of them. And this is exatcly like them. Just better, more polished, funnier and more entertaining. Warning! If you think this is a FIGHTER game, don't buy it. It's 100% management/sim. Standard stuff : maintain your character needs while trying to get some cash while developing skills and winning fights. Sounds simple - but it isn't. The game encourages three developement styles - strength, agility or stamina based. But you must maintain some balance anyway to have any chance, for example buffing yourself to the maximum in STR will give you nothing because your fighter will be exhausted and on the floor after first 3 punches. I found the STR/STA based character the best, but it's my experience. Game offers some plot, some quests, a heck ton of pop-cultural references and gags and it's pretty in it's own retro style (if you dig it). There are moments when the difficulty just goes over the roof (like finishing the rookie leauge and then going to play offs), but with a little grind later they're managable. The whole fighting thing also requires some strategy and thinking - you can unlock many skill that will help you battle different types of enemies, depending on what stats they base on. It's simple but enganging enough. It takes some time to raise your fighter well enough to kick ass, but it's worth it. Fun little game.

Retro feel, fresh ideas
First, I can't believe there are people on GOG who gave this game less than 4* !!! For me it's everything GOG was (and is) about. A game with a classic feel about it, full of content and things to do and discover. I fancy management games and love story driven games so this is a perfect blend! It just feels so 80's and is so well designed, game mechanics and both visuals and soud&music. I own a steam version but surely will buy it here too once it gets cheaper! Hope for more games like this.

Lovely melange of 90s classics
Disclaimer; I see a number of poor reviews due to bugs and developer attitude. I experienced no bugs while playing the game, nor have I seen reason to interact with the devs. This is a game review. I found this to be a funny, genuine little gem that brought me back to the 90s. To me this is a melange of Jones in the fast lane and that SNES boxer (punch.. up?... super punch... whatwasit?). It is, like Jones, a time management game at its core. The fighting per se is more like a rock paper scissor exercise where you choose your strategy up front and then see how it fares. It is not very difficult. And, like Jones in the fast lane it has numerous parodies both of real life and pop culture, Rocky, Karate kid, Street Fighters and TMNT being obvious 90s referances - but you can find Fight Club and more modern, even contemperary referances. This makes it very enjoyable to me, even if the gameplay quickly gets mastered to a point near, (but not at) boring. It certainly has that one-more-round addictiveness in there somewhere. The game would have been stale if not for the visuals and the music. Very well made are both, in that regards it also reminds me of the giant of old, OMF which never was a superior *fightin*g game, but it certainly was the superior game to me, compared to the more refined fighters. It was well worth its asking price at release, it is more so now. Would purchase again.
