Psychonauts

I bought and played Psychonauts when it first came out. Now, as then, I give it my highest recommendation. Play it.

Psychonauts is, at the very least, a strong contender for my favourite game of all time. It combines a fabulous, off the wall story with a wide array of brash (and mostly slightly insane) characters, plus a good helping of excellent, enthusiastic voice acting, to produce a game which is damn near perfect. Dr. Loboto (the deranged dentist-cum-brain surgeon quoted above) has to be one of the best realised and finest voiced villains in the history of video gaming. The environments are wacky, fun and varied, and the solution to each person's mental problems is always inventive and hilarious. There is a dash of romance, a good bit of back story to dig around in, and lots of bonus powers to unlock. To put it simply, this game is brilliant. It is also however, different. There is no other game quite like it. Sadly, difference is something that most gamers appear not to appreciate, as Psychonauts sold poorly on release, which perhaps explains the lack of a sequel. This is a tragedy, because Psychonauts is a game that it is impossible not to enjoy, whatever games you usually play (or even if you usually don't play games). Buy it now! Ahh yes, back when double-fine was good you got to play a trippy game with a banjo-kazooie feel as a main character voiced by Rodney Squirrel. While I did enjoy this game, and suggest it. 1: I suggest you have a gamepad and 2: I suggest you do better than I did. I gave up when I had to play cleanup around the camp to buy an item to help me finish the next level.

I bought this game on steam and it ran like crap. I saw it here on GOG on sale and thought screw it. Installed it and it runs PERFECTLY. Steam doesnt care about you. All their old games run like crap. Every GOG game I've bought runs like a dream. This is a big deal to me. Buying ALL my games on GOG now.

One of the best 3D-platformers ever. Every human mind you visit is a inique place with it's own style and it's own rules. In one of the imagine worlds you can play role of the giant who crushes the sity builings. In second world it will be fighting with Napoleon. 20+ hours of gameplay, and it's never boring. Soundtrack is really nice, it helps you get a right mood. In real world you can just listen it and relax, in the world of Milkman paranoija it is not really comfortable and in asylum you'll be really anxious. I'd also like to mention NPC's, it really feels like they are personalities, not a video-game characters. For me the weak part of the game is it's ending. It is just not serious enough to get satisfaction from finishing such a good adventure. Circus is annoying, not too hard though. But Psychonauts still is one of the best games I've ever played.
