Description
Project Wingman is a combat flight action game with an emphasis on polished and refined gameplay, true-to-its-roots inspirations, and an engaging single player experience. Perfect for those who aren't looking for a simulator experience, with the ease of pick up and play, all the way to those who want a fast-paced challenging flight action game.

Dogfight, strike, and fly through combat zones based off an alternate history of Earth. Either over the cold waters of the Bering Strait, attacking tanks in the brutal environments of Yellowstone magma fields, or diving through the Redwoods to strike targets of opportunity in the Pacific Northwest, across the oceans, above the scarred lands of the world, this war will take you from exotic battlefield to exotic battlefield, all while going up against odds way above your pay grade.

Pure Combat Flight Action
Exotic weaponries such as railguns and geothermal-powered armaments will be ready to pluck you out of the sky if you're careless. Whether you are an attack aircraft pilot, skimming the ground with a gatling gun and rocket launchers attached to your wing, or an interceptor with long range, almost sniper-like missiles at your disposal, it will be up to you to prove yourself as an Ace pilot.

Conquest Mode
In Conquest Mode, fight in an uphill battle against various bosses and ace squadrons in a territory capture game, drawing elements from roguelikes and RPGs. Players will have to earn enough money to not only purchase new aircraft, but build a mercenary army of their own in order to take on waves of increasingly difficult opposition as they struggle to take on a myriad of changing missions.

Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality headsets will work in-game to put the player in the cockpit of aerial warfare, immersing themselves in head-swiveling combat. Combine this with full compatibility with HOTAS peripherals and custom axis curves, and you will be able to experience the game however you want, using any DirectInput supported peripheral you like.

Key Features:

  • Fly in varied and exciting scenarios and locations unlike you've ever seen before
  • Engaging single player campaign
  • Over 20 different aircraft and over 40 unique weapons at your disposal
  • Fight different kinds of adversaries such as giant mechanized fortresses and railgun cannons
  • Test your skills in Conquest mode and fight against hordes of adversaries
  • Want a different Conquest experience? - Adjust it with modifiers to your liking
  • Beautiful 3D Volumetric clouds rendered with TrueSKY
  • Fully rebindable controls and HOTAS compatibility with DirectInput support
  • VR Support

Perfect Game for PS2 Era Ace Combat Fans

The game has just about everything a PS2 Era Ace Combat fan could want and more. The AI is greatly improved compared to its Ace Combat counterparts (Seeming to be more capable at dogfighting as well as dodging missiles) when it comes to maneuvering you have the same theoretical mobility as the AI (It's just up to skill, you WILL not have the same weaponry as some of the bosses considering it'd be impossible to handle all that simultaneously as a single person). It is more comparable to PS2 era games than it is to AC7 but that isn't a bad thing. Gunfighting is WAY more viable and way more fun than previous AC games, in many situations being better than missiles due to the AI's better missile dodging capabilities Compared to AC7 they are in the same realm but they both have slightly different things to offer so personally I wouldn't get one or the other but if you have to make a choice I'd choose Project Wingman for price (I would advise getting both though) Only issue I found was that it was lacking in the number of aircraft. It has a suitable amount of aircraft (enough to fit pretty much every NECESSARY niche but it does not compare to even AC04 when it comes to aircraft. Although they may add more later who knows) Airships done right, whereas in Ace Combat so often Airships are just a gimmick boss, in this game Airships are a whole new class of enemy (and ally) that shows up relatively frequently changing the pace of the game. One of the most notable levels I found was early on Uphill Every Way where you see bombers in actual use (As opposed to the typical "Kill me" bombers you see in the first mission of every Ace Combat game). Mixed unit tactics and all I haven't tried the conquest yet but it seems like a good way to stretch the game out Other than that, you can replay missions in Free Missions with a multitude of fun multipliers to change up the game. Such a small thing that makes the game that much more interesting

The best Ace combat clone game to date

It's like the good old days of ace combat on ps1 and ps2 but with todays gen great graphics and on PC and with VR support. Very good.

Highly recommended

As a long time fan of Ace Combat going back to the PS1 era, I absolutely love Project Wingman. Nice graphics, fun gameplay and an interesting story. This is a AAA game at a budget price! I am proud to have been a part of the Kickstarter program for this game.

Amazing for AC fans and non fans

I bought the game since I've been wanting to go back to the blue (Orange) sky. While originally I thought this would be a simple substitute for AC this game has blown my expectations out of the water. With a difficulty that is just right for veterans in hard and good for people who want an introduction on normal, even massive challenge if you wanna go for mercenary. Feels in the spirit of AC but at the same time different to the point on how missiles feel when they are behind you. Amazing music that fits the AO of each mission and make either pump or feel the pressure of the events unfolding in front of you. And even then we also have the conquest mode a nice extra piece for those who want more replay value but don't feel like re doing the campaign right away. A rougelike mode that is bound to keep you busy for a long time. One of the best value for money purchases I've done in years.

TAKE MY MONEY!!!

This is (almost) like Ace Combat. The almost being nitpicking (I can't expect a 3-persons team to add cutscenes, or have the GUI polished to the max). But everything about the flight and combat itself... Wow... WOW. The dogfight is top-notch. The bosses (e.g. air cruisers) are awesome (even if none came to the size and awesomeness of some from AC5). The missile alert is SPOT ON: Once you figured what it shows, you'll have a very good idea from where the 3 missiles dogging you are coming from. I've only played the campaign right now, and it is quite pleasing, even if the dogfight means I'm missing some of the comments from my squadron. They have the same environmental comms where you hear comms from the enemy. Anyway, I don't know if the devs are working on a Project Wingman 2, but I'm already willing to pay for it. Now, I may need to take a break, because I've spent the last evening and this morning on it, and I need to calm down the excitation of being in the middle of 20 vs. 20 planes dogfight while being mowed down by freaking railguns. Mandatory nitpicking for Project Wingman 2: I'd like to customize by plane (e.g. colors, or even colors of my plane's or missiles' trails). Also, I'd like to be able to give commands to my squadron (as in AC5).
