All DRM
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play. - Can't play without making an account. I'd call that activation - Can't play without logging into that account. I'd call that not being able to play offline

Claims of DRM are a lie
pingger: "...but since the developer was bought by Paradox Interactive you are required to be connected to the internet when starting the game..." Yeah... no. Mine boots up just fine with the network disconnected, thanks. AzBo93: "...have just forced a launcher on us and we have to be logged in to play..." No. No, you do not. Don't like the launcher? You don't have to use it. There are 32 and 64 bit executables in the game directory. Create a desktop shortcut pointing to the one you want to use. No network, no launcher. Game runs. Speaking of the game, it sure would be nice if we were able to get the 1.05 update. I'm not interested in the DLC options -- bugfixes would be nice. (I'm looking at you, visitation booths.)

Bug infested
Please stay away of this bug nest. I received the game for free, so I am happy I didn't lose any money as I didn't fell for any of the countless bug introducing DLCs. That's the only way I recommend to get this game, and moreover don't try any DLC, not even the free ones. Also, as reported from other users, you will get dubious launchers in order to play. Corporatism at its worse...it was really interesting pre Paradox
