Beautiful, a must buy!
While it received a lot of critical flack for its lack of death and ease of gameplay, I think a lot of people missed out on the beauty that the game presents them. The gameplay is fluid as hell, the mini-boss-only battles are fun and the game is gorgeous to look at. A lot of people disliked the new prince, but I personally thought he's more realistic than the Sands of Time prince (though he was great, too). The story is nice with a pretty neat ending, but the only thing lacking is that the game ends on a cliffhanger (true for both the normal ending and the extended ending of the DLC, which this version lacks). My only hope is that enough people buy this game so that Ubisoft can continue its story.

Embarrassingly stupid.
It is one of the worst games I've ever played. I'd consider myself a fan since the days of the original Dos/Apple II game, but this game plain sucks. IMO Cell shaded action games look weird. As Yahtzee put it, "It looks like they drew abs on the prince with a felt tipped pen." The controls are lame. Press a button and wait for something to happen. It's hardly interactive, and its impossible to die... You just watch the same, stupid cut scene of Elika saving you whenever you fall off a ledge. The action is boring. Press a few buttons - watch a lame, drawn out, slo-mo fight scene. There's no challenge. And who came up with that wall grabbing glove? Disappointingly unrealistic. There are 20 or so levels in the game, and every one is completed the same way: head to level - cut scene - platform to boss - cut scene - kill boss - cut scene - collect a ton of useless shiny orbs. Running around, monotonously trying to collect 500 meaningless white orbs is not my idea of fun. Ever listen to Daft Punk's song Around the World? The voice-overs are embarrassing. Prince- "Anything else I need to know?" Elika- "You're an idiot" If it weren't for the sexy voices, I'd think I was listening to junior-high drama students. The Prince is unneeded, he's just a bigmouth tag-along. Elika should just ditch him and do it herself. In fact, we should be playing as Elika. She's saving the prince 80% of the time anyway. It's merely an over-hyped game that bores you with simplicity.

Skippable
While there are a few cool moments in this game (there's one boss fight that involves a bit of lateral thinking with the fall mechanics that gets a star all on its own) the storyline isn't half as engaging as the original game, and the combat isn't as fun as the third. If you're a diehard completionist go for it, but if you're new to the series just pick up Sands of Time.
