Pirates! Gold Plus

Between this and the Gold Box series, kept me happy from about 1987 to, oh.... now :) Couldn't believe what realism this game had back in the day: a functioning international economy that fluctuated with disease and gold strikes... towns that remembered your face after you robbed it of it's gold and booties... land and sea battles that changed based on terrain, prevailing winds, or ship type... growing prestige and notoriety that forced you to eventually retire because you just couldn't outdo yourself... all on a double sided floppy! Glad to see they brought one of the best games EVER back!!

If developers of today checked this game out, the quality of our next games would improve a lot more. Engaging, trully deep immersion. This is what you get. A game I will never forget. I´m 30, and surely will play this game with my grand grand children. Just buy it too.

I playing this on the Sega Genesis when I had the Sega Channel from the cable company. I wish to find a game much like this today. I have played the newer similar game called Sid Meyers Pirates, great game, but it was still missing some things that this game had. I remember it was badass when I was walking on land and found some town that didn't like me then I blew them away.

I played an early version of this game for the first time when I was about 14 years old at my friends house. Back then, few people had computers in their homes. I was blown away by the game, and would constantly ask to spend the night so that I could play it! I feel guilty about that till this day. Here I am almost 40 years old, and I still love this game! I am happy to see the resurgence of of classic games like this.

There are few titles that define an entire genre of games as well as Pirates! Gold-- that having been said it's aged surprisingly well against its remake Sid Meier's Pirates! It's fairly easy to sit down to it for an hour or two, walk away, and want to fall in love with it all over again. Plus, in this version, you get to marry the merchant's daughter and live without being forced to dance for the game's amusement!
