Lots of fun!
I see many people saying that it's unintentional campiness is the reason the game is so good. But I've always seen the campiness as intentional. I've played this game when it was released and never felt it was meant to be taken seriously. That's the biggest reason I liked this one better than the first. Anyway, it doesn't have a lot of gameplay elements, it's basically an interactive movie with a bunch of adventure-style puzzles. So, if that's what you're looking for and you like cheesy horror (with a sci-fi edge), buy it! HOWEVER! This is one of the few times that the version on GOG.com is terrible. And granted, it runs fine through DOSbox, but the game was originally also optimized to run on Windows 9x. This is the version I've always played and looks much better (no scanlines, higher color depth). Unfortunately, the GOG.com version excludes this optimized Windows port. I understand the DOS version is much easier to run on a modern PC (thanks to DOSbox), but they could have included the Windows port, so we have to option to mess with it. I've bought this in the hope it would run on a modern OS, but was disappointed to see only the DOS version available. If you can find the original CD's, there are patches to fix some stuff, but none of them make it viable in modern Windows. Your best bet is to run Windows 98 inside a virtual machine or have an actual Windows 98 machine. It might be a lot of hassle, but man, is it worth it!
