Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Enhanced Edition

First up, what's good about this game? The character customization is fantastic, you will almost for sure need to make your own portrait but that is a minor gripe. The list of class, race, and build options is superb. The story is solid and has some great moments, even some slight surprises. You get lots of freedom in how to express your character. The companions are vastly improved compared to Kingmaker, and a better line up of characters than most RPG's in this style will give you. Ember, Camilla, Regill, and Arueshalae are all standouts that top most companions in most rpgs. The graphics are fine, they don't look spectacular or anything but for this style of game they are very solid and work well. The music is actually fantastic and has some great tracks that are honestly just nice to listen to. So why is the review 1 star? Because the game from chapter 4 on is a nigh on unplayable broken mess. We are not talking graphical glitches (which there are), we are talking abilities that do nothing, abilities that actually debuff you and then don't do anything else, items that do nothing, items you have to constantly un equip and requip to get the benefit, multiple quests where you are treated like you took action A when you took action B, respeccing after chapter 1 corrupts your save, until today's patch 1.04 you could not beat chapter 4, broken quests, broken mythic paths, consistent crashes and forced reloads, etc etc. The list is staggering. Second, and this is opinion, the game balance is garbage. Normal and up you have to play like a grognard. Anything below normal you can just go RTWP and auto attack and you will win. There is no middle ground that requires some effort, but not 5 minutes of prebuff before every fight and min maxing your characters. Due to the obscene level of bugs and broken jank I can't suggest anyone buy it in it's current form. All the positive reviews you see are either owlcat apologists, or people no further than chapter 2.

As of the day of this review, the 3.1 clause of the EULA (that the owner still must agree with in order to run the game) still exists, even though supposedly Owlcat removed AppFlyer from the game after the backlash for introducint spyware in their game post launch. Said clause is: "Thereby, the User hereby agrees that Owlcat Games has the right to upload software program files to User’s Device, that will record CPU, RAM, operating system, video card, sound card, software and application of the other developers, peripherals, geolocation and any other anonymous technical and statistical information from User’s computer. The User also agrees that Owlcat shall have the right to transfer the said anonymous information to its subcontractors, performing Game development, and vendors providing services necessary for operation of the Game." So they "removed" AppFlyer, but retain the right to upload it again, or something similar, to the same end. So my in-game experience is to agree to a spyware clause to play the game, or decline it and close it. 0/5

The game felt like a slog at times, in chapter 4 I just stopped. Now that I return I must sign away my right to privacy in a single player game or not play at all? The choice is easy. And with this another company goes into my black list, a sadly ever growing one, but I can stay jaded longer then a company can stay solvent.

patch 2.1.5m included a 3rd party spyware service named Appsflyer, dont know how this works with gogs legal agreements.

For the first time in my 25 year history of gaming i am not able to finish a game. The game has so many bugs and one of them just stopped my second 15 day long playthrough. I get an endless loading screen whenever i try to enter a new location or start a battle on the global map. On my first one i made it further in the game but i decided to up the difficulty and start again. That just shows how unpredictable the game is. The game is clearly not finished. I thought that Owlcat learned something from the Kingmaker launch. They did not.
