The best tank sim I know of

So I don't have any history with this game despite the 11 hours or so I've spent with it and its easily one of the best sim games I've played (in terms of tanks anyway though that isn't saying much with how little there is) It surprised me how user friendly it was and how fast I got used to the game though I definitely understand why people wouldn't like it. Only complaints I have are the lack of a tutorial a bit lack luster of a manual and the crashing issues during missions but other than that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game.

Excelent

After some 25 hours of playing one word to resume: Excelent!! Old maybe and with graphics of the another times, but really a very old good game. If you search a WWII tank simulator, this one is the first choice. There also a good numbers of mods allround, but I am very happy with the vainilla original.

Venerable game, but not for me.

I have immense respect for this game. I admire that it has the fanbase it still does. I picked it up on sale here after reading about its following in a recent PC Gamer magazine. Be prepared to do a lot of tweaking. I installed all of the mods and got continual error messages and crashes to the desktop. I couldn't get upset considering I got it for less than $3.00, still I wish I could have gotten it to work.

Can't reccomend

I really wanted to like this game. There's a lot in here; nice campaigns, briefings and managing your platoon. But I just can't ignore how janky the camera is. It's like your head is fixed to a steel rod on top of the tank. Any undulation in the ground sends the camera pitching wildy up and down. As well as that, the mouse movement for the camera seems to be really rudimentary. It literally takes every pixel movement of your mouse with no fuzzy logic. So when you move your mouse to the right, for example, if you're not very careful, you'll end up sending the camera off some some diagonal trajectory because you didn't move it in an exact straght line. So again, I have tried to ignore these issues, but it's just too hard. It's hard to focus on the ememy because your view is pitchingall over the place, and it makes it hard to quickly react because you have to be so careful with the mouse. All I can suggest is that you save your money for something a bit newer.

Happy this exists

I'm happy that this game exists. I played OFP back in the day (OFP released just a month before this game came out) and never heard of Panzer Elite, and this game's graphics obviously aren't as nice as those of OFP, but I like how this game focuses on tank combat. I enjoyed playing this while listening to a podcast as a way to relax.
