Big Brother has arrived - and it’s you. Investigate the lives of citizens to find those responsible for a series of terror attacks. Information from the internet, personal communications and private files are all accessible to you. But, be warned, the information you supply will have consequences…
Orwell is a new governmental security program that has the power to survey the online presence of every person in The Nation. It can monitor all personal communications and access any computer. To preserve the privacy of citizens, human researchers examine the data Orwell finds and decide which pieces of information should be passed on to the security forces, and which should be rejected.
Selected from thousands of candidates, you are Orwell’s first human researcher. And when a terror attack rocks the Nation’s capital city of Bonton, Orwell, and you, are immediately put to the test. Starting with a single person of interest, you'll help the security forces build out and profile a network of potential culprits.
But are these people really terrorists? What does the information you reveal to Orwell say about them? What if you find out things about them that not even their loved ones know? What is the real price of maintaining the security that the Nation is yearning for?
MATURE CONTENT WARNING
Please note, Orwell includes mature language at multiple points throughout the game as well as mature themes and is not suitable for younger players.
Investigate the digital lives of citizens. Search web pages, scour through social media posts, dating site profiles, news articles and blogs to find those responsible for a series of terror attacks.
Invade the private lives of suspects. Listen in on chat communications, read personal emails, hack PCs, pull medical files, make connections. Find the information you need to know.
Determine the relevance of information. Only the information you provide will be seen by the security forces and acted upon. You decide what gets seen and what does not, influencing how the suspects will be perceived.
Secure the freedom of the Nation. Find the terrorists so the citizens of the Nation can sleep safe, knowing Orwell is watching over them.

Orwell is a point-and-click with consistently sensical logic. You have a resevoir of information and can read it at any time to inform decisions on whether or not information about people is useable in an investigation about a bombing and surrounding people/events. The game sometimes resorts to circumstantial or coincidental reasoning to justify connections between two data points with no concrete evidence, but it's possible I am incorrect since the entire point of the player's role is to make decisions FOR the eponymous advanced program Orwell.
Overall, I'd say Orwell is worth both a play and the full price.
The game is an unforgetable experience. But it is also a big challenge!
Which information is worth to tell?
Which one was sayed in affect and what is serious?
You have to deside and you have to live with the consequences.
I was demanded the whole time and banned on the screen. Every information could be change the whole story and the destiny of the persons you have under surveillance.
You can not say that you will have "fun" at this game. But this is not the aim. It is a great experience for your own to see what you take for the truth.
But not everything is good. The game is in my opinion a litte bit short and have a rush ending.
Also it is a little bit sad, that the game is only in english. Most of the time it doesn't matter. A none native english talking can unterstand the most of the text. But in Episode 4 and 5 it is a little bit tricky.
I tried to like it, but it is just way to slow and I feel like my actions do not have any real consequence. It consist of reading text and highlighting sentences with relevant data. Sometimes you can postpone some data and must resolve a conflict. But I always have an impression, that the game just want certain data to be extracted from texts and when I do not do it I just cannot continue.
I must say fourth and fifth chapters are very well written, so that why I give 3 stars, I was prepared for just two.
A terrorist attack has taken place, and it's up to you to discover who is behind it all, using a computer terminal and free access to everyone's personal communications, whether e-mail, chat or on the phone.
Throughout the investigation you'll scour dozens of different documents and try to uncover a network of activists you suspect of orchestrating the attack.
But as you continue searching for the culprit, more and more attacks take place, and more innocent lives are lost.
Sounds fairly interesting, but your job isn't exactly to investigate, rather to transfer whatever data you find to your supervisor.
To do that you don't really need to read the different documents, since relevant data will be highlighted for you, and it's up to you to decide if it's important enough to pass to your boss, or whether to discard it.
That is, until you get stuck, and realize the piece of information you thought superfluous is actually something you need to pass along to your supervisor, for the game to continue.
Plot-wise, nothing makes sense - the people you follow are glorified keyboard crusaders, and half of the information you dig up that has some value seems to be things a government ought to have on file - such as names, birth dates, photos, places of work, phone numbers, etc.
The other data you need is conveniently given on-line through conversations between the different members of the activist network, despite knowing the government is spying on them.
There's also an amazing hacker, that seems to hack from his personal computer, with all his personal info on it.
There's also no sense of urgency, despite trying to stop a terror attack, and there's no need to manage your time wisely - no need to follow two conversations at once, to decide which person to focus on, etc.
Instead every scrap of information you come across is saved forever on the government's computers for you to look at even days later.
The ending is also bad, since the attack's motive makes no sense.
