Un jeu étonnant
Une vraie bouffée d'air frais. Des textes très drôles, servis par des comédiens très impliqués. Un gameplay basé sur l'improvisation. Les musiques sont super agréables à l'écoute. C'est vraiment une petite pépite qui mérite beaucoup plus d'attention.

absolutely loved it :)
(note: game received for free during a giveaway) ...but what a lovely surprise! even though quite short, be prepared to laugh out loud, to cry manly/womenly tears, to mash space button to the rhythm (but you can't really lose, only progress slower, and you can even choose difficulty) and to listen to really catchy songs that will warm up your heart! the production is very hand-made but this adds a ton to the charm of this game :) I can't wait to see your next project, guys

A labor of love and a good time
Once Upon A Jester was made by less than thirty people and all the music was recorded in someone's house. I received it via GOG giveaway and this game is worth my money and I think also worth yours. Does it have a lot of QTEs? Yes. Is succeeding every QTE actually the point of the game? NO! This game is about the fun and chaos of creating something. Telling stories with your friends can go wrong, you can stumble or trip over your words, sometimes you hit the wrong dance move in the dance battle and that's fine! You're just having fun, you and your friends can adapt! And that's what the game does! Sure you won't get as many bouquets as if you hit all the QTEs perfectly but that's boring! You unlock more of the stickers by trying weird things and sometimes even by failing what you were attempting! Go fucking wild! Additionally, the inspired choice of allowing you to participate in some of the musical numbers makes me very happy. Usually in the form of a no-fail QTE, you can either hammer on that interact button wildly or try for something rhythmic and melodic but either way it's joyful noise and I had a great time. Thought I couldn't do it now you know I can!

Enjoyed this more than I expected!
I was browsing my pile of shame of unplayed games when I stumbled upon this one which I received for free some time ago and thought "Well, might just give it a try!" I'm glad I did. You join Jester and Sok on their journey to become the kingdom's greatest improv theater stars and help them to steal the treasure hidden in the royal castle. The story is rather shallow and doesn't take itself seriously at all - which is maybe the game's biggest strength. The game has a lot of funny/silly moments. Some gags are completely unexpected and bizarre, some are subtle, some are in-your-face, others are way too real. I caught myself laughing at them more than once. The characters and especially the voices are adorable and likeable, and even though the game is rather short, I grew attached to the protagonists. Game-play-wise, you walk around town to talk to other characters, advancing the story or just providing some lore to the world (or some jokes). You then figure out what your audience likes this particular evening for your show, design a poster (a bit repetitive and annoying), get on stage, and try to deliver a great performance. This is done through a series of quick-time events. Difficulty: Low. Even if you fail during the shows, it just makes progression longer. You cannot "lose" the game. Length: I took my time and finished in about 3.5 hours. Didn't get all achievements though. As game play is a bit repetitive, the length of the game was good for me. Special recommendation if you play: Don't be a perfectionist. Part of the unique charm and quirky fun of this game lies in failing miserably at your show and witnessing the general hilarity that follows.
