Amazing Hidden Gem

From the trailer and screenshots I thought this game looked like another bland MOBA but I'm so glad I was wrong. You start off with 1 troop and 1 island and slowly build up a gigantic nomadic empire by asborbing nearby islands and making them your own. This game is not a traditonal "city-building simulation, strategy" but more of a blitzkrieg WAR strategy game and it does it very well. Pros: -Very fun war-strategy -Suprisingly fast paced -Spells and ordering troops is quick and satisfying -Micro-management is not so prevelant Cons: -Lack of building variety -Troop and watch tower balance: Humans are the best troops and Dark elf is the best watch tower, with no reason to use the others. -Blitzkrieg tactics (commanding your entire army to go in one direction) is OP and can become repetitive To conclude, This game is alot of fun, if you already like strategy games, and fun but slightly overwhelming, if you have never played one.

Difficult and flat

The levels even in the tutorial line get really long and really difficult by the 3rd one. I feel like I have absolutely no tools provided to handle what the game's asking for. Units are flat (supposedly they learn powers, but they only use them themselves -- you're only giving orders to move and focus fire). There's so far no base building except "claim this island" building and some towers. There's TONS of downtime while you're just waiting for gold to feed in and there's nothing you can do. Because of leveling up, losing a single unit feels catastrophic. Cool theme and flavor, and I can see what was attempted. But it's not there.

Beautiful graphics, lacks gameplay

When it comes to the colours, design and general feel of a fantasy realm of magic weilding factions and magically floating islands above a beautiful World below? It's truly stunning to behold! For that? I would be stuck staring at the islands that differ in flora and fauna, with their own custom units and power ups/treasures. Sadly, for me, it lacks something that I find compelling and after 4 hours of gameplay? I got bored and uninstalled it. There is no Storymode, you have several scenarios and a tutorial based scenario. Each Scenario differs in their difficulty and victory conditions. Some you dominate your opponents, others you simply have to flee to the escape point before the enemy is aware of your presence as they are far stronger. Gameply, you control 1 island with a unit and a settlement, each settlement allows you to recruit a couple of units (Can be upgraded to 3 with enough Gold). You have magic which you use to explore and travel from floating island to island, defeat neutral tribes guarding loot and magical relics on neighbouring islands and then build another Settlement on each Island to increase your Recruitment cap, gold and mana. You have a research mechanic that improves your magic and unlocks new spells, including the abilty to tug islands towards/away from you (Which is pretty cool). Apart from that? There is nothing that grabs my attention, the game gets predictable and boring after a couple of hours. I really wanted to like this game, but I've played so many games like this in the past that it's not doing anything groundbreaking that makes it different from the other stratergy games of this genre. I hope it improves itself later in the future as it has some good ideas.

Eh, it's free..

I mean, what do you want for nothing, rubber biscuit? It's really simplistic. Tries to add depth but it's wasted. Lots of mechanics and UI issues. Even starting a game is confusing. No campaign, lousy tutorial. Every game is the same, slow start then you cross a point and just swarm. It's a time pass but offers no real enjoyment.
