5 stars, but not for beamdog.
So. Beamdog did another one. Admittedly this one is actually a net positive for once since an EE release actually brought a lot of new blood to the table. The game itself is riddled with new bugs that beamdog is painfully slow to fix and it tends to cause a lot (and I mean a LOT of crashing). You might say this makes nwn unplayable, but there is a but there. A big, HUGE but. The multiplayer and modding comminity. NWN has one the greatest platforms for multiplayer servers in existence by allowing developers to make their own custom content using the engine and go wild. Beamdogs release has brought new life to this game and it's community and that alone makes it worth the purchase. Where before we had a few dozen players across the whole game now we have hundreds. And the servers on multiplayer are top notch as far as what they're trying to do. Do you wanna play an omli me D&D game? Do you want to role play? NWN IS absolutely the place for you. The creation beamdog server list boasts hundreds of high quality persistent world servers where you play both in character and with the actual game mechanics. It's literally as close to playing 3.5 as you can get without having a table in front of you and dice in your hand in a lot of cases. So beamdog is a hit and a miss on this one. This experience is like literally no other game and I've never seen anything else that offers anything like it. A couple of clones have tried and failed. This is the OG as far as community developed content. If you're just playing the base game you are missing out completely on what the game has to offer. So. Beamdogs changes to the game don't even warrant noting. The multiplayer experience and community are where it's at. If you're new, give it a look. We'd love to have you.

Good Game, but the bugs can get annoying
It's an RPG. Level a character, complete quests, loot stuff. The controls take some getting used to, but not bad at all. I made it halfway through this game, but had trouble completing a few quests due to bugs. Spent hours doing research trying to fix them, but found myself wasting all that time. The quests weren't critical to completing the story, but still annoying. In any Bethesda game you can fix just about any problem. This one, not so much. Other bugs included not being able to loot certain things and getting stuck in an object. Not the most common, but I found myself quicksaving all the time to combat it. This is also one of those games where you can completely screw up leveling your character. There's no fixing it other than to cheat or start over. I'd recommend following a class guide if it's your first time playing a D&D game. Learning all the mechanics of how combat works and how the talent system works can take quite awhile. Just setting up your character at the start will probably take you an hour. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's not simple. Don't get me wrong, I liked the game, but there isn't a great database site for information on this game. I got most information from random forum posts and independent guides. I got the game for $5 and it's well worth that price.

I don't support original removal...
I don't support removal of buying the original separately, *ever*, or devs that do such. It's just a way for a remake (poor or not) to piggyback off the original game, including charging you more for it (cash grab) and not having to compete with the original in price or enjoyment. In that, the game and devs have already reviewed the game for me and marked it as DO NOT BUY or support us, this game is terrible. We couldn't compete with the original and even had to include it with this version to steal those sales and reviews. Beamdog are the pinnacle of such terrible practices. Worse, they show themselves as unprofessional with their entitled, childish, SJW/woke attitude by insulting anyone who doesn't praise EVERYTHING about their downgrades. So, beyond the above paragraph, I will never buy from Beamdog and advise anyone else to do the same and get the original elsewhere. Buying this to get the original or giving 5 stars, but meaning it for the original, supports this worthless company and encourages them, WotC, Hasbro and GOG in these *very* CUSTOMER UNFRIENDLY practices. Luckily, I picked these and others up before the downgrades and when the name GOG still meant GOOD and OLD (classic). Beamdog is neither. Since the original *and* it's page were removed, look at this link (the most recent archive of the original) for reviews, ratings and screenshots to compare with the current version, not to mention requirements, goodies, languages, etc of the original: https://web.archive.org/web/20181011141148/http://www.gog.com/game/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition

New love for a classic
With 2 new adventures so far due to the renewed Premium Module program, a new 64bit on the way, vast multiplayer fixes and even the possibility to run massive MMORPG servers now it's great to see the new love for one of the most moddable versions of DnD with all the tools you need to easily make your own adventures. With the new renderer updates fans are even updating the graphics alongside the new module releases.
