Awful controls overshadow great concept

I really enjoyed the first 30 minutes of this game. The art style, the concept (getting to know the Inupiat through short video clips corresponding to the story) and the story were very nice. But then the very imprecise controls, sometimes slow camera, collision glitches and horrible friendly AI, which didn't make important jumps, led to many, many cheap deaths which completely made me forget the beautiful story and just want me get to the end of this game. The control and AI issues weren't as bad in the DLC Fox Tales since the jumping sequences didn't need precise timing but there too I had to suffer through some cheap deaths. (I don't mind deaths but I want them to be caused by my own incompetence instead of the game's limitations which I felt was the case here).

Good, casual cultural game.

This is a great storybook. A good and casual game which in reality is more like playing trough a child story told by one of the old inupaq people. It really gives insights on the history and cultural aspects of these people. I have played it on PS4, but it really is a cultural jewel, fairly priced but it's not a very long game though.

It's a two player game...

You play a girl and her fox companion, and it's obvious it's balanced towards having two people controlling a character each. If you play single player, you can switch characters but the AI controlling whoever you're not playing fails to make the harder jumps leading to tons of retries even where you know exactly what you're supposed to do. To add insult to the injury, you can't have two players on the keyboard, the 2nd player control options are disabled for me. You'd better have a controller (and go through the trouble of making it work, for the Mac/Linux versions). Other than that, it's a platformer with a beautiful skin and eerie storyline. If you can survive the above frustrations, it's enjoyable.

5 stars... why? because it is better...

English I thought it would be a cinematic game, simple and very short, judging by howlongtobeat and from the reviews. I hated "a bird story" for this fact immediately I did not mean buy this game. Then for 3 € and art design compelling curiosity won ... I decided to buy it for 3 reasons: 1. there is the Italian, and is translated very well. 2 is cross-platform (also runs on mac) 3. is light and it was cheap. and I was pleasantly impressed for 3 reasons: 1. is longer than I thought. Short, but not very short. 2. is more challenging than I thought. Nothing impossible but it is not an interactive movie (it is like a simple 2D platform). 3. The art design is spectacular, a lot more than I thought. It is an excellent game that easily deserves 5 stars ... definitely not to be taken at full price, but it's a little gem that I'm glad to have discovered. Italiano Pensavo sarebbe stato un gioco cinematografico, semplice e molto corto a giudicare da howlongtobeat e dalle recensioni. Ho odiato a bird story per questo infatti subito non volevo acquistare questo gioco. Poi per 3€ e l'art design convincente la curiosità ha vinto... ho deciso di acquistarlo per 3 ragioni: 1. è presente l'italiano, ed è tradotto benissimo. 2. è multi piattaforma (gira anche su mac) 3. è leggero e costava poco. e sono rimasto piacevolmente colpito per 3 ragioni: 1. è più lungo di quel che pensavo. Breve, ma non brevissimo. 2. è più impegnativo di quel che pensavo. Niente di impossibile ma non è un film interattivo (è più un semplice 2D platform). 3. l'art design è spettacolare, molto di più di quel che pensavo. È un ottimo gioco che merita tranquillamente le 5 stelle... sicuramente da prendere non a prezzo pieno, ma è comunque una piccola gemma che mi fa piacere aver scoperto.

Fabulous adventure to the North

The game is an amazing journey to the old myth from an Alaskan tribe. It really blowed me away, with it's authentic language storytelling, unlocking videos about the history of the people living in the windy, snowy and cold place. But, even there - you're never alone. We are never alone. I guess, we should not forget about that, and then we will never fail, whatever difficulties we have. Just like Nuna. It's a really beautiful game and you can almost feel the gusts of wind blowing, see the nothern lights, while listening to a beautiful story (even though, there will be one place, where it is quite hard to pass, speaking about gameplay - you will know when you find it - but still it doesn't spoil the game after you figure out how to). I really want to thank the developers for this unforgettable experience they gave me. A must-buy, amazing little game.
