NecroVisioN: Lost Company is the prequel to original horror FPS shooter, taking place before the NecroVisioN story begins. It contains a bunch of unique levels, characters, weapons and gameplay elements as well as new main hero that presents the original game story from opposite perspective. Player is now one of WWI German troops that discovers the evil forces unleashed by the war, starts to fight against them and leads soldiers of all nations gathered on the front through the massive battles against the zombies and demons and finally he becomes a first Necromancer that will fight against Simon Bukner in NecroVisioN.
10 new levels in singleplayer campaign
15 new characters
6 new weapons
Variety of special weapon ugrades
New drivable vehicles to use in fight - FT17 tank and Halberstadt CL.II airplane
Several additional close combat techniques, spells and fatalities in singleplayer
New visual effects like enhanced depth-of-field, soft shadows and new shaders with optimized renderer and data loading system.
Without a doubt a much better game than something like painkiller or serious sam, and it hits that spot those games strive to itch much better. The setting and characters are fantastic and enjoyible to witness, However there are issues here and there with some of the later levels as far as their cohesivness to the main story. None the less something that must be played rather than witnessed.
If I could give this 3 and 1/2 stars, I would, because I gave the original 3 stars and this improves upon it immensely. No annoying one liners. Combat gets repetitive, but I got this for barely over a dollar, and at that price, you can't beat it if you don't mind a janky older FPS.
To me the third shooter in series which technical problems. I had to restart chapter 6 and to choose the right tunnel to avoid crashes with script messages. Before I couldn't finish neither deus ex invisible war nor chaser. In invisible war suddenly the savegames were invisible in the loading manager or corrupt and in chaser it wasn't possible to jump over a wall or on a crate to follow the missions path. Horrible technical issues remain today standards.
I had to use a god cheat to finsh a flying mission against a dragon. I watched youtube vids and did the same, but my plane always explode. I played on girlie mode recruit and reached the end titles after all.
Pros: atmospheric graphic style, pure action, helping soldier npcs, divers enemies, big range of weapons, jumping and saving works in this game, plane and tanks are included
Cons: killing thousands of enemies, groups of enemies from everywhere hunting you, respawning from everywhere right behind, artificial stupidity, crawling women monster nurses on the ground
Sometimes stupid and sometimes fun to play. At last a shooter you can skip or play one-time and then forget fast.
Compared to the first game NecroVisioN: Lost Company some things do better, some things do worse, and some things are the same. This new balance of better and worse sets the same rate as NecroVisioN. NecroVisioN: Lost Company focuses more on the IWW setting and gameplay which is for the better. There are also new weapons and enemies which is also a plus. Interestingly, Farm 51 added new vehicles also. Annoying and making me dizzy 2 levels of flying on a dragon are replaced by a surprisingly well-done level where the player controls the plane from the IWW era. The player will not have the opportunity to use the "walking tank" from the first game but there is a level where the player can drive the FT-17 tank. Unfortunately, tank controls and the whole level where the tank is in use are done badly, the level itself is also long and boring. In at least half of the levels, the player has NPC companions but their AI is poor and NPCs are mostly annoying. Ally NPCs are almost always focused with submachine guns which shoot full auto non-stop with the aim of Terminator, while in melee they are useless. Also, NPCs fire can hurt player too so you need to be careful not to get into their line of fire. They are aiming and shooting at the enemy even if the player is in the line of fire. I died a few times because the allied NPC was shooting the enemy which I was hitting with a melee attack. 4/5 of the game is focused on IWW-era fights as I mentioned earlier and this is fine. Thanks to this boss fights are interesting and sometimes require thinking outside of the box. The last 2-3 levels are with vampire tech. This is done the same bad way as in the first game. Gameplay goes mostly to smashing melee attack with Hand of Shadow and bosses are just big bullet sponges. And about the Hand of Shadow - a bug that prevents from selecting HoS type is still not fixed! The plot wasn't a great script in the original NecroVision, but Lost Company is even more average. It's cliché as cliché can
