Almost five stars - it is lacking in an aspect of originality or perhaps not referring to its origins enough. Other than that it is obsessively humorous and at times hilarious (especially the servo horse) a take on the being sucked into a computer game out of real life plot line. The game LOOKS amazing and sounds AMAZING!
But too bad: The execution is horrible. The predetermined controls are not so good, keys can not be remapped and the game responds just slugish, slow which is an absolute fun killer for this kind of game, unfortunately. It just does not work properly.
As I've said in my reviews before, I don't blame devs for this as they likely do not know that unity the engine puts these there when they make the games. Still its something people should know

I thought a little bit about how to 'describe' Narita boy, and while descriptive capabilities I don't think to lack, on this subject I always fall short on words.
For inspiration, I read the other reviews, and while I understand their opinion, I think most miss the point.
Narita boy is what I called not a videogame, but a fable. there is only one other game (two in fact, but one is the sequel of the other, so It doesn't count) I gave that definition, and like Narita boy, It's a masterpiece (if you are wondering, it's Twinsen: LBA 1 & 2).
Perhaps a little more mature, but still It manages to transport you not just into another world, but another time, another... feeling.
I could spend time describing the presentation, the music (which is, literally, one of the greatest you'll ever hear in the industry. Something that puts 'Symphony of the night' to shame), the graphics, the story (simple but deeply profound), the gameplay (perhaps the only feature with some negligible downsides)... but I won't.
I am a fan, sure, but even as a fan I tell you:
Play it.
Live the journey.
Narita Boy est un jeu de plateforme 2D pixel visuellement excellent avec une musique captivante. J'ai apprécié globalement cette aventure proposée par le Studio Koba et j'espère que vu la fin du jeu qu'il aura une suite.
Niveau histoire c'est classique et basique - vous incarnez un jeune garçon aspiré dans le jeu Narita Boy où vous êtes le héros élu qui sauve le Royaume Numérique de Lui et de ses sbires.
La durée est comprise entre 4 à 5 heures en fonction de votre façon de jouer.
Niveau gameplay c'est solide et efficace - vous avez une progression soutenue avec l'obtention de nouveaux de pouvoirs par univers vous permettant d'effectuer de nouveaux combos et coups spéciaux qui sont peu nombreux. Les ennemis sont variés mais redondants à certains moments du jeu. Les boss sont uniques et faciles à combattre dès que l'on connaît les patterns.
Les univers explorés sont uniques et disposent de leurs propres ambiances sonores-visuelles mais dès que vous avez terminé ces derniers, vous ne pouvez plus les revisiter. Il est fortement conseillé d'explorer au maximum avant de terminer le niveau pour le 100% du jeu.
Parfois, la difficulté se relève être en dents de scie mais ce n'est pas insurmontable et tout est une question d'assimilation des patterns couplée à une maîtrise du gameplay. Je tiens à préciser que j'ai joué au clavier avec l'affectation de base des touches qui demande un temps d'adaptation.
Également, petite anecdote, il y a une phase de QTE qui m'a laissé perplexe la première fois en voyant la touche affichée et j'ai pris un moment pour comprendre que c'était la touche j qui n'y ressemblait absolument pas pour ma part.
Les points de sauvegarde sont parfois mal placés vous obligeant à refaire des combats entiers dans certaines zones.
Voilà, je vous conseille d'y jouer et vous souhaite de passer un agréable moment dans le Royaume Numérique. Dernière chose, je sais que les joueurs aiment soutenir les développeurs mais attendez la promotion pour l'achat.
