Wish I had played it sooner!
I have a lot of games, and play many on a consistent basis. I saw this game was free on GoG so I picked it up. Didn't know if it would fall into my game rotation or if it would be one I would play once and never touch again. I instantly loved this game so much I bought Warband and am eagerly awaiting M&B II. Beware, It's extremely addictive! oh, and did I mention there are hundreds of mods?

simply fantastic
Having never played the mount blade games I had no idea what kind of treat I was in store for. This has put a huge smile on my face the last few weeks. I bought it in the sale for a few pound and it has been one of the most rewarding games I've played for a long time. Infact GOG has almost recreated a situation in my youth almost in the 80's you could go in a store and spend your pocket money on cheap games. Every now and then you would come away with a gem. This game for me was one such jewel. My computer is thirteen yrs old now so I wasn't entirely sure it would handle the graphics but its played without fault, rarely it might suffer some slowness when there lots of fighting going on but not to the extent that it ruins the game and it is only momentary. So with this game you get to trade, fight, and increase your skills. What i liked most is you can recruit huge armies paid from your gains and your soldiers can upgrade. So you start with say a crossbowmen who becomes a marksman then a sharpshooter and so on. Other soldiers can become cavalry and eventually turn into knights. However the best part of your army are your heroes who are unique and have far more skills you can upgrade. These skills aid the party overall but only your best hero in a given skill will count. So it pays to specialise each hero in a given area. There so much to do in this game. Rise in fame as your exploits become known. You can win tournaments when your skills are good enough, you can fight for lords and even become a lord yourself and manage your own castle and towns. The graphics to me are amazing, and so far I still haven't tired of riding a horse in to battle. I've enjoyed raising my fame by helping villages this seem to have an impact on how many people you can recruit so it pays to be nice! Enjoy GOG thank you so much for this!!! I now have to buy a new computer later this year just so i can play some of the other mount blades and quality games you are offering people.

Fantastic
Think "Monty Python and the holy grail", THE GAME! Great fun and VERY addictive a little Derpy Though. Charging into battle on a horse with your fellow soldiers is a feeling found in no other game. Combat is the heart of mount & blade, and frankly its the saving grace of the game. Mainly due to how bland the towns and characters are. The game does a good job of letting you tell YOUR story. And it goes at its own pace. Defiantly worth 10 bucks.

Amazing RPG Game!
This is an amazing game! Join a king and ride to battle in his name and/or become a king yourself! As you slash your sword at your enemies (bandits, enemy lords, etc.) from your horse or from the ground gain experience and upgrade your swordsmanship, leadership, horse riding, and much more. Also you can build siege towers and take forts and you can train and order your soldiers to charge or order them to hold position (when you are skilled enough you can kill the enemy horsemen and then order your men to charge when only enemy infantry are left). Additionally you can control towns and forts yourself, build schools (which will increase loyalty to you over time), build mills (to increase prosperity of towns), etc. You can even appoint your own lords to take care of towns and castles in your vast realm and thus guard against nearby enemy raider before you can get there yourself! Amazing unending options and a lot of beautiful graphics too! And a vast world that reminds me a little of Skyrim (another great game!)!
