Message from Pixel Reign: Moros Protocol has been a passion project that started back in 2010 as a concept, which we have been working on for the last 5 years to bring it to life. Moros Protocol is inspired by some amazing games: DOOM, Ultrakill, Half-Life and many other amazing retro-futuristic first-person shooters! Check them out too if you have not already!
Like all roguelikes, this one hooks you to rerun multiple times to get a good item set. I also like the weapon upgrade system with mods. Add Systemshock graphics plus weird mutants and you got a nice timekiller.
I did get stuck couple of times in the graphics so hopefully that does not happen too often.
Challenge stages can a bit annoying as it is mostly timed jumps and at least for me the jump does not feel consistent.
weapons don't feel good to use, enemies aren't fun to fight, the variations in the stages aren't interesting, the upgrades, while constant, don't change up the gameplay in a noticable or unique way. I know most rogue-likes/lites/whateverthef#%ks tend to be a bit grindy and skinnerboxy in general, but avoid unless you absolutely and unconditionally love these kinds of games.
Well, it covered the basics.
Decent movement, melee attacks, dodge button, crit-zones on enemies, decent enough artstyle, an addicting gameplay loop.. It got the basics covered and its got coop?AWESOME! Could this be one of my favorite games of all time?
But whats this... the coop is ONLINE ONLY, no LAN, no local coop ... yup the coop feature has a expiration date.
I didnt inform myself properly. My bad. Thats what i get for giving the videogame industry the benefit of doubt one time.
In a world filled with Abandonware, Emulation, Shareware, Freeware, decades worth of Mods ... giving you more games than one could possibly play in a lifetime FOR FREE, to anyone with two braincells and a stable internet connection (and thats excluding piracy!!).
It will be just another ephemeral experience in an endless sea of singleplayer-only titles. Basically worthless in 2025.
Ofc the dev has the opportunity to patch it in at anytime... but lets face it, doesnt happen. Never does... videogames are dead.
