MJST2 is a good game.

I purchased this for my 5 year old who absolutely loves MJST. MJST2 offers alot more, in fact I believe its alittle too much. My son often got frustrated with the menus, the AI (AI seems to be smarter on straight tracks and pretty dumb on curvy tracks), complicated steering controls, and it takes too long to change trucks when in the open world when compared to MJST. Granted he is a child, and I am helping him unlock the trucks right now. My dislikes.... Menu layout is frustrating at times, No fast travel that I can find in the open world, independent steering controls for front and back wheels makes it complicated at first, and the AI is clunky. I expected this to be Casual Fun like MJST is in open world. So maybe that was my error in expecting it to be just that. My likes.... I honestly had no intent on playing this game but with my son being so frustrated over it. I decided to try and unlock all the trucks for him. To my surprise I actually do enjoy it. The game runs alot smoother than MJST. Most of the Monster trucks are fun to play around with. Overall it is a fun challenge and alot of WOW moments when finding Monster Truck specials in the open world. Bottom line, 1-Dont expect it to be like MJST. 2- It aint perfect and probably over complicated for younger kids. 3- Runs Smoother than MJST. 4- Not worth full price, wait for a good sale and have fun!

Unexpectedly Good

NOTE: I have no experience with the previous Steel Titans game, so this was me going in blind with no personal expectations. I found that I was enjoying it and it's become one of my favorite off-road games, so I made this review. So, I am not a kind reviewer of janky or unpolished games and I was expecting Monster Jam Steel Titans 2 to be at least one of those after looking at other reviews. Surprisingly, it's a solid off-road arcade game, and very addicting once you learn the advanced controls with dual-stick independent steering for front and rear. When at first the vehicles feel sloppy or unresponsive, you eventually gain intuition for little things that make it enjoyable: how to carve around obstacles and hug the terrain with crab and rear steering, how to correct your orientation mid-air with brake and acceleration, and to turn your front tires to stay level when landing and avoid veering off the course. It's very satisfying, better than the Test Drive Off-Road games of old. Sadly, the visuals and audio are only serviceable and don't enhance the experience much. They're not bad, and thankfully aren't annoying or get in the way of the fun, but not 2020 level of polish. More like 2012 or so. I was initially put off by the other reviews and waited for a sale. When I installed and first played the game, it didn't hook me or seem any fun at all because the tutorial was irritating, the physics felt floaty and temperamental, and the first area of the world was not interesting to explore. But now, after playing a few hours, getting some trucks to max level, and unlocking more of the maps, tracks and activities, I think it's maybe even worth the full price. Maybe, maybe not, but definitely worth the price on any sale. This turned out to be a very fun game, and I see myself returning to repeat playthroughs in the future, long after GOG is gone. TL;DR: This game has a rough start and takes time to rev up, but stays good once it gets there.
