Pure action gaming jewel

Mirror's edge has a beautiful bright, clean and colorful graphic style. Standing on top of a skyscraper and jumping to other obstacles and buildings is unfortunately totally unrealistic, but pure gaming fun. The futuristical synthie soundtrack is brilliant comparable to the amazing graphics. Technically I had to choose a much lower resolution, because the ventilators of my pc always went load even on 1280 x 768 or so. I mean the game is from 2009 and I bought a powerful pc much later?!! The game has a lot of frustrating moments, often I had to repeat the same passages dozens of time. The boxing match with an assassin and gun fights were extremely tough and time consuming. Unfortunately you can't save when you want and a few times the savepoints were set very unfair. The controls work fine after absolving a lot of training. The way through the missions can be indicated by pressing a special key and and important obstacles were colored in red. In my point of view mirror's edge defined a new era of jump & run games in 3D and is an absolute must buy and play. One of the best games I ever played, I felt fully enthusiastic the whole playthrough.

Good Idea, very bad implementation

I really tried hard to like this game. The idea of parkour as a game was good, especially in making it more engaging for the player, in contrast to for example Assassin's Creed. But a lot of the time, the game won't register you grabing edges, pipes etc, and so you fail, though the pipe etc. is directly in front of you. The story was fun, but I had to stop, uninstall and forget this horribly executed game. If they would ever remaster the game and fix all those nearly game-, but at least nerves-braking game, I would even consider to buy it and give it another shot, since the idea and stuff hooked me. I mastered so many games over the past three decades. Some of the hardest games, not only soulsgames, which by the way aren't that hard to be honest. But there is a difference in a game being hard or just not well made, and for me, Mirrors Edge is the latter.

Good story... Frustrating controls

I played this game when I was younger on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Both times, I remember just how annoying it was to get Faith to move where I wanted her to or do the things that I wanted. So, when I got this (for free), I thought it might be better on PC. I was wrong. The game doesn't run great. There's a lot of screen tearing and stuttering. And I'm using a 1050Ti. It culminates in a frustrating experience where the controls seem to lag. Faith moves further than I intended or jumps later than expected. Movement is clunky. Since I've already played through the game twice on two different consoles, I decided not to finish this one. For my own sanity. However, the fighting in this game flows a lot better than in Catalyst. I don't know why, maybe because you can disarm guards and use the weapons against them in this game. Anyway, it wasn't really worth it for getting it for free. It just takes up space in my library. Maybe I'll try again when I get a new GPU, but I highly doubt it was the issue. I just don't think this game is a very good port.

First Person Platforming does work...

...and it's a hell lot of fun. I love this game and the series it started. Mostly you run around, full speed, sprinting acorss rooftops and climbing from ledge to ledge. What sounds rather monotonous, is actually a blast. Always trying to keep the momentum up, looking for the fastest way forward. Every now and then, you get to shoot some guns, but it's very bare bone. The setting and story is interesting but not that memorable. I also love the color palette chosen. The runners vision is a neat detail to guide the player. The minimal UI and first person perspective makes things very immersive.
