Incredible inmersion

I own this game on Steam. Metro 2033 is a great game, set in russia after Moscu was nuked. In a way this game is a resource mannagement game mix with a linear FPS and a heavy atmosphere. You will never get lost in this game since is all in a linear path unless you scatter your resouces, you have to mannage your equipment, lights, bullets, guns, masks, health, etc. It is quite hard the first time you play, so don't get frustated and just play carefully. This game also has stealth so if you are low on resources you could simply sneak through the enemy base and get to the next part of the level very easly if you know the route. Gunplay feels right for the type of game this is, it isn't Doom fast, but is not a drag to shoot either, it's kinda slow really, reloading guns can be a chore in the middle of a fight. You can carry up to 3 guns, choose wisely. The game holds up amazing after all these years (a decade old game!) Visuals look visceral, the ambience strike with decadence, Moscu looks awesome and the music is also top notch, enemies look menacing specially the library monster, wish you luck there. In short this game is amazing, buy it if you like old school shooters and if you don't buy it as well, it is good time. WARNING: I don't know it was just me but there was one time the games deleted progress out of nowhere, i'm talking about a whole chapter! I was playing the game as normal as i sudden receive a message: "Game Paused" or something like that, in the chapter were you have to fight the Nazis. It deletes all the progress you done in that chapter, and the only way to solve it is to restart the chapter, be carefull with that.

Undocumented features!

I know this game is great. I know it's graphically superior to the release. I know it's chock full of content and fascinating consequences. I believe it is superior in many ways to the original release. I understand it is infested with extra pixels and smoke effects. However the phenomenal, almost mystical, failure of the game to run under windows 10 prevents me from experiencing this. No. Reinstalling everything, including your OS, graphics drivers, sound card and the entire universe will not fix this. No. Mucking around with your PC, it's drivers, registry, settings or sexual orientation will not fix this. No. Mucking around with back-level DirectX, PhysX or VC will not fix this. No, mucking around with game specific configs, the planetary alignment or Jerry Spunkmeyer's political leanings will not fix this. The game is now, effectively, a black hole into which you can toss your cash. As additional features go, this is - without a doubt- a not-winner. You don’t get to enjoy the "game as it was meant to be played". Instead you get to run the EXE and.. .do nothing. Congrats! Welcome to the real hardcore play-through.

Good game but...

This is a good game with a nice story and atmosphere, however it suffers from some really irritating bugs. Sometimes if you want to continue playing from where you left off then the game will continue but it will stay "paused" at that point, but there is absolutely no way to resume the game. The only way you can get past this is by restarting that entire chapter. This issue has been there since 2014 when 2033 Redux was released and it has never been looked at by the devs, so I don't think they will ever fix it. But to be fair this bug only happens sometimes and not always. Another bug is the graphical bugs. Somewhere in the middle of the game, the game will suddenly get random freezes and then eventually the game will crash to the desktop. This is fixed (for me) by disabling advanced PhysX and tessellation. When you play the game for the first time the game will also sometimes crash to desktop at certain points in the beginning. This happens only once each time at that specific point of the game. Last but not least, frame drops. They occur rarely, but they are there. I have an i7-6700, 16 gb ram and a gtx 1070ti, so this is really not to be expected from this game. Other than that, the game is pretty fun and the story is great. I really want to give a full 5 stars, but the bugs just irritated me way to much.

Great game, wish i played it sooner!

Playing this remastered version of "Metro 2033" in the year 2020 and i am loving it. the game play and graphics are very good as well as the controls and immersion within the game. This game is very worth it and i highly recommend getting it and trying for the trophies in this one even if you are not normally a trophy hunter it certainly forces you to look out for extra things and discover the depth of effort that went into this game.

Enter the tunnel!

well I really enjoyed the game; yea the filters stuff is annoying if you're running out of it but I had no problem about the bullet/money: I ended the game in Hard stealth mode with a lot of money left.. what I really loved btw was the post apocalyptic atmospheres, the beauty of those depressig landscapes and the darkness of the metro tunnels; the game is pretty hard and I had to restart a checkpoint from scratch a bunch of times because I played it real stealth and killed very very few enemies; that was very funny and I prefer stealth to classic shoot'em all gameplay mode. What I did not like was the Italian translation of the game (it completely removed the Russian accent) so I left English audio and some of the stealth mode aspects: often if you put off all the lights you can direct approach an enemy and he doesn't see you at all; also the animation of the stealth knock out is kind weird: if an enemy is sitting on a chair and you try to knock out him you'll see him get up just to let you knock out! that's very weird.. What I REALLY didn’t like is [POSSIBLE SPOILER] the inconsistence of the "positive" ending and the fact that it is not considered at all in the sequel of the game, Last Light, so even if you chose to save the Dark ones in Metro 2033 it will as you actually killed them all in Last Light! That was kind of meh, to me..
