Not NEARLY as bad as people say
The game does have some serious problems, but it's still tons of fun and the best 4x space game out there.

Not just no but hell no.
It's what happens when developers not just listen. Players wanted more stuff, more features, more details... and they got what they wanted. Literally. Bad mistake. The amount of useless detail is the most prominent feature of MOO3 and it buried an amazing franchise. Why GOG keeps devalueing promo deals by adding this game is beyond me.

The end of a great game
MOO1 showed promise, which MOO2 delivered. For its time it was outstanding. MOO3 was long in development, and when it appeared... .. it got just about everything wrong. It is monstrously disappointing. Its user interface makes everything more complicated than its predecessors, and if you give in to the UI driving you away from getting involved with the game, well, you end up with a game you aren't engaged in - a game which is more or less playing itself, and which you are forced to simply observe. Luckily GOG.com stocks the others - get them instead, this is just dreadful
