Not bad but frustrating

This game is the kind that is fun until it's suddenly not. It plays like a fantasy version of Master of Orion 2 - except MoO2 has game settings where the AIs will leave you largely alone and never attack, which is nice when all you want is to experience what you can do in the game and not be forced to play hyper-aggressively. This game, though? There WILL come a moment when for no discernible reason one of the AI wizards decides to turn hostile, and you can forget about the "Beginner" setting for the AIs giving you any advantages. Oddly, the experience where suddenly without warning the AI starts attacking you and WINS EVERY TIME regardless of actual troop numbers and strength is obscenely not fun for some of us. Five tries, five sudden turnarounds of the computer being a cheating bastard. I'm done. If I had the option of setting the AI to "[bleep] off and leave me the [bleep] alone" this game would be 5 stars easy. As it is, I am never going to get to the end, so why bother?

THE BEST fantasy 4X ever made, bar none.

- While there are many games where you can lead elven swordsmen into battle, there is only one where you can lead invisible fire breathing flying undead elven swordsmen with burning aura and mithril weapons into battle. And although they sound overpowered, there are monsters that will eat those freaky swordsmen for breakfast. - While there are many games where you can cast spells both during battle and on the overland map, but there is only one where you can make your whole army invisible at the start of the battle or where you can decimate the whole enemy army with a single spell. On the overland map, you can cast spells that cause volcanoes randomly emerge every turn on the map that generate mana for you and decrease the economic output of nearby enemy cities - of course your cities are spared. Or simply stop time. Yes. Stop. Time. Only you can move on the map, and the enemy can only defend itself in tactical battles. Some have compared Master of Magic to Age of Wonders 3 or Fallen Enchantress. Fallen Enchantress is an awesome game I put several hundred hours into - a wonderful game which was inspired by the old Master of Magic. While you can create custom units in Fallen Enchantress, they never feel as unique as the creatures in Master of Magic. While there are spells in Fallen Enchantress, they are very, very far from being as ambitious as the ones in Master of Magic. I need to admit, the strategy/economy part of Fallen Enchantress is where it exceeds MoM, but Master of Magic isn't weak from that aspect either. Age of Wonders 3 is a game I quickly got bored with. Again, the main inspiration for the whole AoW series was Master of Magic. But the empire management/economy aspect of the game is just lame. Again, spells are pretty unambitious compared to the crazy awesomeness you can have with Master of Magic. Where it exceeds MoM are the tactical battles - and again, Master of Magic has very fun and complex tactical battles as well. All in all MoM is the best.

Censored crap

It was intelerable that some srpites in the original were topless, it absolutely had to be fixed. Female breasts threaten the world stability and balance and they absolutely needed to be removed. Think of the children.
