Mad Max

If it wasn't for the open world boring formula that plagues the gaming industry, i would've give this one 5 stars. The world is beautiful and aggressive, really cool car upgrades, not much of a memorable story but cool characters and lovely design. 100% pure Mad Max rage with Batman combat vibes.

Awesome game. Fun to play at your own pace. Open world lets play for 10mins if you dont have a lot of time and knock off some quick tasks and save the longer missions for when you have longer to play. It still looks great and the combat, both on foot or in the car, is easy to get the hang of and offers enough challenge to keep it interesting. Best of all it is often on special so you get a lot of game for a very little.

Contrary to what some have said this game WILL blow you away. Anytime you get pounced on by multiple targets the chances are you will get blown away if your ride isn''t able to handle the assault. Which is fine! Because it can always be repaired. The explosions are glorious. The vistas are breathtaking and the NPCs are a very interesting cast of characters. The musical score is beautiful so it's a shame no isolated soundtrack is available with the game. There are a lot of hidden entrances peppered throughout the landscapes and the map area is massive. You don't realize just how massive until you have to travel on foot. It's great to see Max's friend from 'Road Warrior' in the game as well. One of the coolest features in the game are the sandstorms and electrical storms (no rain). Sometimes when you least expect it they can actually complete a mission for you (petrol and electrical sparks don't mix ). They can also mess you up bad if you get caught in them so find shelter. I originally got 'Mad Max' as a free game in a bundle with 'Tomb Raider' when I bought the XFX Radeon 7870 HD Ghost Edition and it turned out to be an awesome thing. I'm glad it's now on GOG DRM free since I have my saves back up off of STEAM. I have never played a more perfect game that doesn't have water in it. Yes please, bring all the Borderlands games over next.

There's some recognizable style from the last movie but I'd say that the focus on Max, his car and the general theme leans more torwards the original concept. It's a must buy if you like action games and specially wastelandish and Mad Max themes. The only thing to be wary about is the fact that this is the kind of game that moving away from the main story can leave you a feeling of emptiness and repetitiveness as this game world is not as "alive" as, let's say, Grand Theft Auto series or even Sleeping Dogs. Either way, a solid purchase.

It starts just average, like typical console port with all design flaws you can imagine (stupid keyboard controls, small spaces, follow-one-path narration and bluntly obvious indication for interactive elements) but after first ~2 h it opens up into a magnificent experience of perfect gaming. Well, the console roots shows off in the key binds but everything else disappear and experience is so superb that one can get used to controls. It is perfect combination of a story driven game with open world where you can free roam and do missions as they come or you can push the main story forward and still have even more fun with a bit more challenge. It has a racing game component that is completely optional but driving is so good that at some point you will want to do it anyway. I'm not into racing games at all and I did it in mad max. Some say it is repetitive and technically that is right (half of the game is about drive somewhere and kill bad guys, repeat), but each location is visually different, some have unique mechanics and the actual gameplay is very satisfying so you actually want to do it more! By the way, the way world is designed – it feels so… real. At all times all feels so organic, so right and plausible (given the world settings ofc).
