Description

Legend of Keepers: Prologue is a free playable alpha demo of Legend of Keepers. It's a tactical dungeon management game where you play as the bad guys! You're the Boss of the Dungeons Defending Department and need to protect the company's treasures against pesky heroes! This version of the game contains around 1-2 hours of gameplay and introduces Legend of Keepers mechanics, lore building and game strategy.

  • Place traps, launch spells and slay these damn heroes looting your dungeons
  • Fight with your monsters and discover their unique abilities
  • Hire monsters, manage your employees and your stock of traps
  • Deal with employees strikes and other fun events

RogueDefender

Each run will be different but players will keep some bonuses for their master between runs. In fact, our game is a mix between Roguelite and a Dungeon Management. How did we achieve that? We've run many tests to find the perfect mix between a management and a dungeon phase!

Dungeon Phase

First, you will have to plan your defense against a group of adventurers. Check their stats and resistances, then place the best traps and monsters to defeat them! When you think your dungeon is ready, let the crawl begin!

You will then be able to watch those heroes die! It's a reversed dungeon crawler, heroes will move through your dungeon and will trigger the traps you've placed. When a group of adventurers meets a group of monsters you've positioned in your dungeon, a turn-based fight will happen!

Great concept, terrible execution. :(

I get to be a dungeon keeper for monster?! O.O How awesome is that! Finally a game with that dynamic. :D Except it's not engaging in any way. D: + I get to manage monster and they look interesting, but that's the only plus. - There's no lore invested into them anywhere. And no story whatsoever. You can just have runs for a score or a custum run where you adjust settings freely. - The training part has good voice acting , but it's dropped in the actual game. Heck at least a narrator would give the game some life blood it desperately needs. - There's no real tutorial and nothing is really explained. - There's a bunch of curancies and I'm still not sure what some of them even do - you get gold when you defeat adventures and blod if you kill them and tears if you scare them. - Events you can select are randomly generated in no real order: adventurers for battles, merchant to get new monsters, alchemist to convert one curreny to another, engineer to upgrade your traps, "Event ?" for meaningless random stuff you just read and accept - some have choices, but it's nothing meanigful; and other minor things. - The battles are so dry and boring: there's just selecting what monster will be placed where and what attack they'll use, you can check the hero's stats before battle, but not abilities. Even the animations are lackluster: monster A does this, hero 1 does this and so on with nothing to be remotely cool or actually entertaiming and that's supposed to be the height of the game. :( - Mostly the monsters will die frequently and lose morale (each as a gurge and they can't be used for a while if it gets to 0) and you have to manage keeping them active or letting them rest in the garrison. - You can upgrade your monsters and boss monster, but you don't get any choice over what can be upgraded and how, there's no skill tree, just randomness you can't impact. Guess I'll have to wait for anohter game to let me manage monsters with an actual story. :(

What a great demo

Fun, engaging, straight forward, fairly good explanations. Took me a while to understand what morale was, but it's an alternative way of defeating the heroes, by reducing their morale bar instead of their health bar.. Borderless full screen, ability to disable screen shake, all resolutions listed even if your hardware doesn't support it. This is a good thing because some games have a hard time of sensing the proper resolutions and/or don't support certain resolutions natively. Nice art style paired with fun voice acting and great sound engineering in general. My only complaint I can think of, is the escape key should back you out of menus and it doesn't.

Good for a demo

Legend of Keepers: Prologue has a nice design, but unfortunately nothing is known about the characters. The game is large enough for a demo.

Where are the letters?

It could be intersting but sadly there were no letters in the game. Two times installed and nothing changed. A serious bug that will not make me spend more time to see how to fix it. Bad promotion.

Unity Special i.e. Boiling Start Crash

THIS S**T DOES NOT EVEN WORK! I got the dark blank screen with the CPU heating up enough to boil water. The cursor was visble. These recent demos made with Unity do the exact same thing with high likelyhood, e.g. the Vagrus one earlier. It is usually these 3D Unity games that have under-performance and over-heating issues. I have noticed that engines that try to reserve and 100 % utilize multiple CPU cores at once, have the heating but not necessarily the underperformance problems, e.g. Tomb Raider 2017. Smart engines skip enough visual frames to maintain smooth FPS and things generally work. This has all to do with Unity engine's 3D functionality and a lack of optimization by cutting excessive processing. Game developers these days should put more effort into testing and understanding their tools to eliminate this kind of run-time issues.
