If you like the original SimCity

If you're a fan of the original SimCity, or LEGOs, then it's a good game at the right price. It's not really a modern game, so I totally understand the negative reviews. It's not a challenging city builder nor one with a ton of depth. It's simple, and the fun comes in building and rebuilding little castles towns out of the same set of LEGO pieces over and over, and watching your little clockwork town operate. Again, it's much more SimCity than Civilization, but at $10 or less on sale, I really can't criticize it. It does what it sets out to do very well, just be sure you and the game both have the same goal.

Great and still with updates

I was worried that this game can be boring. But if you do not play this game everyday for many hours it's great! K&C is really cheap and developers still works on new updates suggested by the community, I think it's totally worth it. If you want a small game that got something from Settlers, Anno or Banished - you should buy it.

A great 'Build your City' game

I simply love this game as a RTS city building game. You can play this without any combats as a pure city building/trading game with merchants and this part is nearly perfect. I loved the old AoE games but for years there was nothing like that again. The whole RTS genre is more or less dead as this is 'to complicated' for todays gamers. This is the first game (even with a macOS app not requiring an emulator) that got me into hours of building my city. In some aspects its even better than AoE as there are more possibilitys to bnuild your city. You can even build on water and connect islands with bridges. Also like the weather where rain can destroy your fields or a lightning flash burning down a house if you don't have water/fire department. In my opinion this is a great game. Can't say much about the combats as I don't like them anyway. So the other reviews suggest that they might be too easy and not really existing like in AoE or so. But this is what I like: I can play without enemies and use it to build perfect cities. I hope that there will be a part 2 of that game (with macOS version) maybe with some more options to extend the city or maybe some research options to advance buildings in time. Would definitely buy that instantly even for $20 if the system requirements stay that low as this version runs perfectly on my 11 year old Mac :-)

Great game

Great game, got a lot of play out of it. Very fun for those who like this type of game (castle defender/castle building). Not too difficult, which i prefer because i'm more interested in the building aspect. Very cute as well!

Truly a Gem of a Game!

This is an amazing game, simple yet extremely satisfying. I've played many RTS games over the years, like Age of Empires, Stronghold series, and Anno series. I must say the music, the build animation the ambiance is so relaxing and zen and yet it keeps you on guard and the tension rises toward preparedness to the next attack. Many reviews say its simple or great for a while or lacking depth, simply NOT true it will only feel limited if your imagination is limited, let me explain!. It's similar to coding, anybody can code but to write "beautiful" code that's the magic. Building and creating the PERFECT infrastructure and well balanced stronghold with growing economy and inching forward expanding your kingdom is where the magic lies. Where so many RTS focus in high graphics and have preSET game paths and punishing you with resources gathering while expanding through battle and conquest, this game shines in the "FEEL GOOD" category and watching your beautiful kingdom en people go about its lives. I know this might be too deep but surprisingly the game gets you somewhat attached to your npc's especially when you see the message that someone died of old age and see them taken to a graveyard and the tombstone placed It makes you realize that these were hard working "people that helped grow your kingdom" I say keep supporting the developers and hope they keep up the great work of creating more beautiful content in the near future.
