Realistic Skyrim

If you like button mashing to win a fight, I would highly suggest you skip this one and go with Skyrim. Button mashing will probably get you killed. If you like to think about your fight to win, this is the game. If you want a great story, get this game. If you want to experience life hundreds of years ago, get this game as it gets every last detail from the era. If you game is to have a fantasy RPG, then this is definitely going to disappoint. Note you will spend your first hours trying to get out into the real open world. This is on purpose. If you do no learn what it has to teach you prior to going out into that world, you are going to die. No way around it. You cannot expect to explore without knowing how to defend yourself as you are going to get jumped by bandits or enemy patrols sooner or later and you will need to know what you are doing to survive. Spoiler alert.... Going after a murderer and having to join the monastery as a monk to find him is going to be painful. You will learn to appreciate the life you have after experiencing that one. Those that have been there know what I am talking about.

Unforgettable, fascinating adventure.

This is one of the very few reviews I've ever written for a game, and I'm doing this because this masterpiece and Warhorse Studios deserve it. This masterfully realized Czech medieval life simulator ruined the open world genre for me, because I know probably nothing will top this for my personal taste (I'd be very happy to be disproven). Everything is meticulously cared for: the 3D models of humans, animals, weapons, armors, buildings (much care for materials, scale of the brickwork etc.), the beautiful, varied and lifelike environments (every tree, rock etc. seem to be placed with thought), the beautiful music I've grown very fond of, the english dubbing, the amount of research put by the studio in the history of the places where the game is set, and that is reflected in the beautifully intricated and convincing lore, and in the ingame codex. I played in hardcore mode, so without fast traveling, and never grew bored of wandering the map. Combat is very interesting, well designed, and satisfying, even if not perfectly balanced; I've found combos hard to be performed successfully, and I ended up not using them very often. Other than that, the feeling of striking the opponent is very realistic, and it's enhanced by the well designed sound effects. It's not a perfect game, but the merits far outweigh the defects. I played the final version of the game I think, so haven't experienced many bugs, apart from the occasional crash, or the (rare) sudden death upon descending from the horse (happens when you're on a steep area, or in the bushes, I believe). Maybe the worst one is when you go close to some enemies and they don't react for quite a bit. Another small defect is the facial animations that are a bit stiff, but it's to be expected when you have so many characters, and not a big deal in the total experience. An unforgettable game for me, it'll never leave my hard disk, and I'm looking forward to KCD 2, hoping it'll be up to the magnificence of this first chapter.

What a game!

I started playing this game recently and I got caught into the story immediately. Even on my older 2013 gaming laptop, this game runs fine on lower/medium graphics. I have always wanted to play a realistic medieval game where you die easily and can do a little bit of what you want. This is the closest game this far. Very beautiful environments and atmosphere with great gameplay and storyline makes this game absolutely one of the better games that I've played in modern days. The music could have been more "characteristic" though for extra feeling. I am so much going to finish this game and buy all the add-ons.

Nice game, but lot of confusion

Nice game from a new studio, looks pretty, has various interesting mechanics, but unbalanced and sometimes buggy. After the long introduction and learning the second part of sword basics, you are free to explore the map or follow the main quest. And here comes the first problem....you are dead. A sword skill called "Masterstrike" is the counter skill for melee weapons, which is the most needed basic skill in this game, because everyone and everything has either unlimited stamina or can counter with a wooden stick all your attacks, even if you are using Thors' hammer. That this needed skill is not in the tutorials, which you need to complete as tasks in the main quest, is completely frustrating. The alternative to use bows, is not better. Even with the target of having more realism in this game, to have nothing to extrapolate the way your arrow will take is frustrating too. I helped me with a lot of guessing and the position where the left hand is, relatively to the enemy. After learning the Masterstrike and somehow to manage to hit with the bow, you finally make progress in the game. Until you reach some main quests. Tiny spoiler with this, but if you shall work after a day plan, have 0.0 seconds to reach the next room and get into jail every time for this..let's say I had strong feelings to ignore my "goodguy playthrough" and crush this quest the hard way. Thankfully only two such annoying quests exist in the main storyline. Last negative point: saving games....the check points are horrible. Sometimes I lost progress of an hour, because suddenly a group of 6 enemies appeared on the way and killed me. But not because of enemies, but because even after 6 completed tasks, there was no auto save. Yes, you can save with savior schnapps, but a the beginning, 120 coins for one is a bit much, together with the horrible checkpoints it is a terrible solution. But I played through the game, after knowing all these "bugs" I enjoyed it, let's see how the next part will be.

Ending Come: Please, I can't stand this.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is one of those kinds of games you watch, you don't think much of it, you buy it on sale one day, and then you play it and it's... Tolerable. You play it for a while and the setting is kinda nice, the story is kinda good, but you turn it off at some point and realize... 'Man, I'm not actually enjoying the game, why am I playing this?' and uninstall it. Casual Players avoid this. Watch a Full Story Playthrough if you must. First off, let's discuss Combat, because that's basically all you should care about. Is it fun? Hell no. Is it intuitive? Fuck no. Can you cheese it? No. It's a five prong system, each prong corresponding to a directional attack (For Honor Players, it's basically like if you had two extra guards... also playing as an Assassin, blocking is not automatic) with a middle prong for stabbing. You have to attack from a different direction each attack (meaning move your stick or mouse a different direction for every attack) or else the opponent will either block or counterattack. Unfortunately, they also tend to counterattack a decent amount, even when you are playing correctly. They also give you combos you will not memorize unless you spend several hours in practice. Archery? If you can figure out how your arrow flies, sure, but they give you no way to know. No reticle, no arrow flight path, and even if you hit the mark, anything bar a headshot will only damage them. Dialogue Checks? More like Speechcraft/Charisma Checks, because Warfare checks will fail half the time even if you have double the opposing enemy's roll, and will result in 3v1s and 4v1s. Crafting is about the only well-designed part of the game, from what I could tell. Alchemy is cool (though you have to follow very specific directions) and sharpening was neat... even though I didn't understand it. Characters are... Servicable. Radzig is cool, everyone else I've already forgotten. I don't hate them, I just don't care. Really nota game worth your time.
