Movement is tortuous

Trying to move in this game is incredibly difficult. There is an area on the right of the screen with arrows, left, right, up down and sometimes if you are really lucky, forward. You are only able to move in the direction of the red arrow if it is lit up. If you go up and right, you may never get to the control panel you are looking for, if the right combo should be left down right right up. It is HORRIBLE. Going to a walkthrough for assistance, it will tell you something like this: to reach the metal bar you go lluurrddffllbb (Left,left, up,up, right, right; you get the idea) If you don't do it in exactly this order, you will never reach the metal bar. I don't know who designed this method of moving in the game, but I would gladly punch him in the nose. I was very disappointed, because the game sounded so interesting, but I would rather have a tooth pulled than have to play this game.

Dated and clunky

I remember rather enjoying the demo of TJP2 which I got off the cover of a PC Format magazine back in the 90s, and I'd enjoyed playing the first one, but I never picked up the full version of it. I saw it on GoG and figured I'd give it a go for old time's sake, after all, the reviews here were all glowing. Well. I can only assume that the reviews on this site were written by people who remembered the game fondly from their childhoods and had not played it recently, or people who have never played any game since the 90s, or sadomasochists, or mac users (last two are essentially the same). The controls are TERRIBLE. Every turn you make is disorienting in the extreme. It makes it very difficult to work out how to get to a place you want to go to or whic direction you're currently facing (especially in the space station). When you're exploring you can instantly die, which means exploration is just not fun, and you have to keep breaking your immersion to save the game. Some of the puzzles require items which are hidden in the environment, which wouldn't be a problem if the controls weren't so awful, or if the game mechanics didn't mean that EVERY TIME ZONE RESETS WHEN YOU LEAVE, EVEN THOUGH IT'S NECESSARY TO LEAVE AND REENTER SOME TIME ZONES SEVERAL TIMES, MEANING YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE SAME OLD BADLY ACTED CUTSCENES OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Also why doesn everyone think that Arthur is "hilarious"? He sometimes says some interesting enough things regarding the time period you're in, but he's never funny. I assume that the baby boomers and mac users dishing out the 5 star reviews don't have a particularly great sense of humour. FMV is poorly acted, interface is slow and clunky, having to retrace your steps is excruciating, and hunting for objects with the fear of imminent death hanging over your head like the sword of damocles is DULL. Still, the concept isn't too bad, so it at least deserves two stars. Get it on sale if you hate yourself.

YAY! I'm a kid again!

This is literally the most amazing game I had when I was a kid. It took me ages to figure it out! The mere fact that GOG ported it is unbelievable and just makes me respect them even more. I guarantee that this game is a perfect addition to any collection and will not disappoint.

Good game, but can't save!

Running a Windows 7 computer, for some reason I am just in capable of creating a save game. You don't know frustration until you've played the game through 3 time zones to completion only to fall into a pit of spikes. This honestly makes the game kind of unplayable.

The only thing worse is the third

A highly tedious game. Its a bit better than the 3rd game but far worse than the 1st. They made each game progressively worse. SPOILER LINE: This one starts right off being super tedious. You have to look all around at many many things as the very start of the gameplay and with it you have to even find hidden codes and input them. If you don't use a guide, you will be stuck bored out of your mind, and lose interest in this game. Its a rare person that wouldn't. Bad game design right away. It doesn't really get much better. The story is worse than the first game. For whatever reason, they decided a time game must also have aliens too. So from here on out aliens are a thing and it doesn't make any sense to me other than trying to draw more eyeballs to it. However, the story is not nearly as bad as the 3rd game. Still, I'm not ever playing this game again. Once through with a guide was enounh and I love FMV games. This one, N.O. Not recommended. If I knew that the 2nd and 3rd games were this bad. They're not worth playing.
