Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her nickname as a bomb disposal expert for the Global Defense Force. When transhumanist cult mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes a cybernetic army on Neo DC, Shelly decides it’s time to start chucking bombs rather than diffusing them.
Her journey will leave trails of blood and gore in huge, multi-path levels filled with those famous colorful keycards and plenty of secrets and Easter Eggs to discover behind every corner. There’s also no regenerating health here, so stop taking cover and start running and gunning. Honestly, Ion Fury should probably come out on three hundred floppy disks.
Shelly’s quest to take down Dr. Heskel’s army will see her use an arsenal of weapons, all with alternate fire modes or different ammo types. Her signature revolver, Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with single shots, or Shelly can fan the hammer Old West style. Shotguns are fun, but tossing grenades down their barrels and firing explosive rounds is even better. Bowling Bombs are just as violent and over-the-top as one would hope.
Ion Fury laughs at the idea of constant checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn’t mean there won’t be all the good new stuff the last two decades have brought. Headshots? Hell yeah. More physics and interactivity? You betcha. Widescreen, controller support, and Auto Saves? 3D Realms and Voidpoint took the best of both worlds and cooked it all into a bloody stew.

Game is really fun with a terrific soundtrack, if you're one who can actually just enjoy games instead of getting triggered left and right id heartily recommend it, if you think there is a global post modern neo marxist conspiracy to censor your video games because they removed a soap bottle with a gay pun in its name for instance, then you perhaps need to seek outside help.
Infact,read it from the devs themselves, and perhaps consider this is blown out of proportion by people who thrive on drama.

I dont regret one bit purchasing this game, and i hope the developers can get over this bump in their path and go on to create even more great products like this one.
Who gives a fuck what the devs decide to censor? I don't. im writing this review solely to say that the "censoring" did not affect gameplay in any way. i don't agree with it at all, i think its dumb, but the game is still loads of fun, and im not going to let the devs free will to patch out a bit of "offensive" content and apologize for what i thought were relatively insignificant comments ruin Ion Fury for me. dont let a bunch of idiots who like to play politics steer you away from this game. now, on to the actual review.
Ion Fury is a retro FPS based on games like Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, DOOM, etc. It's fast, fun, unadalterated violence in a sexy package. Plenty of pop culture references, as well as song lyrics, witty, satirical posters, and quips from the protagonist that genuinely made me chuckle once or twice. Shelly Harrison is a great protagonist. Heskel is an even better antagonist. The level design is unique and i've spent more time looking for secrets than I'd like to admit. This blast from the past is sure to please any FPS enthusiast out there. So far, it's well worth the money, and I look forward to modded community levels, multiplayer, and anything else this game may throw at me.
Before review I want to express my dissatisfaction to GOG. I wouldn't surprise if pirates were first in game appearance. When on Twitter, 3D Realms announced release, passed four hours when it happened on GOG. I don't like when unprofessional and I haven't business with those kind of people. I willn't write in details, but I let to know.
Years of playing of releasing games after loading of Ion Fury in a few minutes gives a feeling about how much was lost.
Developed on modified engine of 1995 game hold in levels of evoking charm, which attributes arrived from beautiful 80s and 90s. Through buildings of Neo D.C., it’s city streets and mysterious places with wonderful landscapes outside under player’s control Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison annihilates soldiers and diversified creations of talented, but evil, doctor Jadus Heskel. Left after shootout corpses, fired bullets, holes on walls and ripped furniture staff will always stay as proof of your activity. Of things, which were natural then.
Details of story, as in shooters of past couple decades, is limited in ReadMe file. Ion Fury narrates before events of top-down shooter Bombshell released in 2016, where in rank of Colonel main heroine had augmented operation happened due unknown incident. I really enjoyed Ion Fury, it is pinnacle of Build engine, it's incredibly fun and hard game. My main reason, why I gave it only 3 stars is dev's attitude. I bought game in early acces, same price as steam, so I demand same functionality between this versions. But, GOG version does not have achievements - Yes, I know, many people doesn't care - I do. Devs said, that "Gog users aren't intrested in achievements", so we don't get them because no :v Steam version has it, playstation version has it, they only need to implement this in Gog, but I guess, they already get our money, so, why they should care, right?
This game looked so cool, but simply does not work. The developers have repeatedly destroyed framerates and repeated their mistakes over and over.
This game doesn't work. Don't waste your money and have to wait weeks for GOG to refund it.
