Ultra 90's Glory
I'm loving this game, and I'm even playing on my couch using a Gamepad. Yeah, it works perfectly. So many settings to setup. It just plays super great. Really digging it. The music, the graphics, everything. Not sure what else to say. :-)

An Excellent FPS, But...
Ion Fury is a polished and well-made homage to the shooters of yore, when quality game design and fun characters actually mattered. The title runs like a dream and visuals are clean and concise, in fact I'd say it looks better than 90% of all AAA games out there. However on my Linux PC, I sometimes experience crashes and softlocks. Which leads me to believe that the game isn't as well polished technically as it should have been. Still, it's a must play for fans of FPS games.

Great Idea, Execution Needs Polish
This is still an early state, but it seems to lack some of the punch of the older games. The levels are large, and the secrets well hidden, but both have their issues. The levels have micro-loading between zones... Think the last BUILD game to do that was Redneck. Might be a limitation of the engine, but it is only slightly obnoxious and happens rarely. The secrets... A lot of them are hidden by means of PAINFUL platforming jumps that you'll slip and slide off of, losing health and wasting time. They really just slow things down and are unnecessarily fickle. Distances should be shortened and platform sections enlargened, as the engine was never meant to do this well. Feels terrible and really just bogs down the gameplay. Enemies don't feel that special. Just guys with guns, and you will waste ammo shooting them during delayed death animations. All in all, if you love the older FPS's, (Duke, Shadow Warrior, primarily. Blood is in a whole other class above them.) you'll probably enjoy it. Just don't expect it to be more of the same. It has taken a larger page from Shadow Warrior and less from the rest.

Female Duke Nukem!
This is a really good game! One of the few with heart. It is obvious that the developers wanted to create a polished and fun experience. They succeeded. You can interact with lots of things in your environment. Sounds and music are fantastic. I still cannot believe how much detail they managed to pull out from the good old build engine! Level design is simply breathtaking. If you like (g)old games like Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Doom, etc. then you will absolutely love this one! 9/10 TIP: Take it easy and slow for the first time. Inspect everything and look for the secrets. You will also be amazed how many video game and pop culture references there are!

Instant classic
A brilliant game in the true spirit of old build engine games. Heavy difficulty, I recommend to start with the easiest difficulty even as an average gamer. The boss fights are mostly (too) hard, the secrets are often very difficult fo find, but that's part of the challenge. Enemy AI is very simple. Mapping is brilliant, but involves a lot of backtracking and sometimes it's a bit confusing to find your way forward. Music is very good. Graphics is rather good compared to Duke etc (carefully modernized, but true to the old build style. Humor is also brilliant (Duke style). I own another copy on steam and write this review after having completed the game (incl preview) once.
