HuniePop is a unique sim experience for PC, Mac and Linux. It's a gameplay first approach that's part dating sim, part puzzle game, with light RPG elements, a visual novel style of presentation, an abrasive western writing style and plenty of "plot".

An addicting match-3 style puzzle dating system with it's own unique twists including upgradeable traits/stats, the ability to move any number of positions and special date gifts that have a variety of interesting effects on the puzzle.
I have been with HuniePop for around a decade now, and I could not be happier at the fact that I am a true fan of this franchise. HuniePop (along with its sequel) are the absolute greatest puzzle games of all time. They are endlessly replayable, and always so much fun. HunieCam Studio is also fantastic, which goes to show that I will always support the HuniePop franchise no matter what.
Someone told me the writing in this game was "a bit cringe". They were wrong. Calling this a bit cringe is a slur against anything on this earth that's only a 'bit' cringe. I cringed so hard I broke three bones.
If you don't mind the constant racism, misogyny or characters being written by a guy who has clearly never spoken to a woman, there's a solid puzzle game hidden under there.
The core match-3 gameplay is fine, but there are too many issues with the game for me to recommend:
1. The game is censored unless you manually put an empty file called "huniepop_uncensored_patch.game" in the install directory. This feature is not officially documented anywhere as far as I am aware.
2. The game is a massive grind. You have to constantly do the same thing over and over for several real-life days to farm in-game money, stats items or good RNG for 100% completion.
3. Two of the girls are locked behind absurd requirements that you would never figure out by yourself outside of sheer luck, making the grind unnecessarily worse.
4. The story is non-existant and the dialog is obnoxious. Fortunately you can skip it, but still.
5. Sometimes when you perform a combo, some of the tokens don't disappear even when lined up properly. This rarely occurs, but it's annoying enough to be noticeable.
6. There is a difficulty selector, but as far as I can tell it doesn't do anything except for the times where your score constantly decreases, and you can just spam pause to negate that.
7. There is no in-game option to exit the game.
8. There is an endless mode, but it is completely meaningless as you can just abuse items to bypass the increasing score requirement. There is no high score tracking either to challenge yourself.
9. Many of the game mechanics are not explained at all. For example, I had no idea that the food and drink meters had an effect during a date until after beating the game.
10. The lady pictures aren't even good except for maybe one or two,

Yes, it's always the same: match 3 (or 4 or 5). It's dead simple, yet it's also somewhat challenging. Modifiers exist to add some depth (and put the blame for bad luck on you, as you picked either the wrong choice or strategy).
Dialogues are well written and interesting. Also a few intermittent question sessions train your memory (or you cheat and write it down). The characters are quite likeable.
