Is this a joke?
What exactly is this garbage supposed to be? Were Horizon Zero Dawn (HZD) only as bad as the Tomb Raider games, which it greatly resembles, then I might be able to like it. As it is, I'm stuck watching some woman waddling around with a full nappy (best I can describe the animation), from one sparse, ugly, patch of 'vegetation' to another. Thankfully, the map and camera are carefully engineered to stop me seeing much more. That's a good thing because what I can see looks bloody awful, so the rest is probably even worse. Of 5 hours "played", 3 have been spent trying to get the graphics to look halfway decent. My system and graphics card are above the recommended specs and the game itself auto-detects to Ultra (Note to publishers, marketing, and all other low-IQs: 'motion blur' is not a good thing), at which its bench-marking promises 35 FPS. Well, OK, I heard this was gorgeous so I can live with that for a while, except that it's not true. I've just played Witcher 3 (Ultra) and Kingdom Come: Deliverance (Ultra) and both looked infinitely better; more lush, detailed, better ligting, animations and models, and they weren't a blurry mess like this is. I notice nVidia experience doesn't support HZD, as it does the others. After 45 minutes I was already bored killing the 'scary', machines 3 or 4 at a time, '*Yawn*', frustrated by the console controls and menus and very, very, annoyed by whoever that woman is who's shouting at me all the time (it's a side-quest). Ragequit for the day. > Graphics suck - The greyish-brown blob might be a rock, cliff or road and the green blur is probably some sort of plant. > Optimisation doesn't exist - Is this really what console players think is acceptable? > 'Combat' sucks. Run up and hit them, no need for tactics. > Platforming should only be allowed in the Tomb Raider games, and only out of pity. > 'Stealth' ... *sigh*. > The good news is - all the deliberate stuff is so bad that I didn't notice any bugs.
