Heroes of Might and Magic® 4: Complete

If you ask the same question, here are some hints. Graphics: HOMM4 follows a very different visual style. It fares poorly against such names as HOMM3, os Disciples 2, less characterful, and sometimes downright confusing. But you know what? After 2 hours of gameplay it didn't bother me the slightest. Heroes: They're no more bystanders, but ACTUAL heroes. If you liked the approach of Disciples 2, you'll like that one too. They can be goddamn powerful; properly upgraded they can wrestle with a dozen of black dragons, and emerge victorious. Sadly, combat-skills are almost mandratory, so it somehow limits your skill choices (try to go without that, and you'll be torn to pieces on level 2). Combat: the somewhat random and way too powerful combat bonuses were tamed in HOMM4, and sublte changes in fight will make you to plan every clash. Also, the mutally exclusive unit tree will prevent you from getting all the units from a single town, but there's a solution: conquer other cities, and you can build other structures there. Story: gripping - at least in the original campaign. Many has some sad twists in the end, so it worhts reading all those texts the game drops at you. Sometimes I willingly failed a mission to learn what happend in that scenario. I definitely suggest you to buy that one. Apart of the graphic I liked all the changes it brought after HOMM3, and I cannos say bigger praise than that.

Like many people here, I've been playing Heroes since the first instalment. Like most people here, I think III is the best. I recently purchased III and quickly realised why I converted to IV, so now I've purchased IV too. The number one annoyance of III was the need to set up complex and lengthy supply chains across the maps. On long, large maps, this could quickly become tedious and time-consuming rather than difficult. You need to constantly resupply your main heroes with troops from your towns. In order to do this efficiently, you need many heroes trading troops across the maps, not to mention gathering all creatures from external production buildings. IV added the caravan feature. This greatly streamlined the process and, for me, this is a deal breaker. The music of IV is the best in the series - really quite beautiful. The storylines are good. III is better than IV in most other aspects and I would be playing III exclusively if they had a caravan feature. Do not underestimate how fantastic this feature is.

I honestly liked homm4. The only problem i had was with the towns/creatures: Just 4 tiers. And they changed a lot of the castles creatures we all liked and enjoyed. Really enjoyed the active hero part, even messed around with custom maps to assemble a 7-hero army, with tanks, archers, mages, summoners, like in an MMO ^_^ At the time i felt it was the most awesome thing to do in the game, since you could endlessly summon creatures to the field, and the AI kinda focused more on the front-line troops. Remember feeling really powerful at the time. Usually the tower was my favorite, but here the green castle was, since it had the summoning portal which gave you access to more creatures, interesting creature, my fav being the mantis. I do have a question, if the company that made homm 1-4 no longer exists, who profits from these sales ? Do the original developers still get a cut when a copy sales, or everything goes to Noobiesoft?

Since they borderline perfected the mechanics in HOMM III, aside from some lacking new ideas like caravans, NWC decided to change up the entire system. And it is a better experience because of it. Now, I have two games I find insanely enjoyable, and I actually prefer the fourth installment, Sadly, it feels a bit unfinished because of the whole 3DO thing, but with the fanmade mods; Equilibris, or Enhancement Mod, it is in my TOP 10 games of all times list.
