Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete

I just turned 25 and experience what you may call a quarter-life crisis. Nostalgia hit me hard and I found myself digging out Age of Empires, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and, of course, Heroes. This is a great game. Colourful, beautifully made and with deep strategy. It requires deep thinking and, even in 2015, it is still immensely enjoyable!

Well, after 20 years since I played this game for the first time, I believed it's ok to say, this is one of the best fantasy turn-based strategy with RPG elements, ever made. And the fact that people are still organising tournaments, proves that multiplayer mode is still valued among players. HD modes made this game playable on newest PCs with operating systems invented decade after the game release. I started my adventure with Might and Magic RPG and Heroes of Might & Magic I was something interesting, but when HoM&M II has been released I spent whole summer holiday at home with my mates playing hotseat multiplayer and we just never had enough of it...

...and definitely the best in the series. There's a certain charm to Heroes of Might and Magic 3 that I've never seen in any other game - and it makes me keep coming back to it for more. Also, thank you GOG, for selling the Complete edition, which is far superior to the "HD edition" (which inexcusably lacks the expansions and actually looks worse than the original) - you can play it on modern hardware just fine with community patch - just google "heroes 3 hd patch" and enjoy :)

This is one if not the best old turn based strategy game ive ever played. i started playing this back when i was 4 (2004) together with my parents and have been playing it ever since. i give this game 50/5 for all the things it has done for me.

You read that right. Heroes of might and magic 3 is a masterpiece in every respect. For starters even the base game has heaps of content, add the expansions and you get hundreds of hours of game. Then we have the masterful design. Everything had its place, with clean and streamlined UI and logical functions. I was 8 or 9 at the time, knew no english at all and I learned how to play this game by myself and without much difficulty just by fondling with the mechanics. That speaks volumes about the design. It's an amazingly well polished and refined game. Technically the game is no slouch either. It might be looking obsolete, but the it has a very clean art style that does not confuse the player. You can immediately recognize points of interest on the map without any fuss. The visuals complement the game design really well and along with the fantastic score help create a truly amazing atmosphere. HommIII ooses personality.
