A worthy DLC for Heroes of Hammerwatch
NOTE: Having the DLC played for a couple of hours, I do feel like I'm having a decent grasp on the new DLC. Also important to understand is that this DLC is more for players who're already familar with the base game. Well, the list of contents of the storepage is literally what this DLC has to offer, so you can already make your purchasing decision based on that. It adds content in a non-linear way via a new region that you can access by an elevator that now exist in your starting village. However, I do have some minor problems with the DLC. The way the new missions are structured would've made it a perfect post-basegame DLC, like an act 6+7+8. Instead they made an entire new region worth 3 acts that function alongside the base game. I think the design philosophy behind it is that Crackshell are probably working on more DLC that work beside the base game, as the DLC description already implies. Its unfortunate that this DLC doesn't add more base-game content. Besides the Multiplayer fun, the DLC also adds a Colloseum/Arena mode, where you fight waves of monsters. It works well in multiplayer just as it does in singleplayer and its honestly the best part of the DLC. But besides that, the new Gladiator serves as a crowd control hero that works best in multiplayer with high-damage heroes around like the Rogue. It is not the perfect DLC given the amount of meaningful content it adds to the base game itself. However it still is a worthwhile DLC if you want to experience a new region with more-of-the-same and honestly for fans this is well worth your money. The DLC is great if you remember the Base game fondly and you look for a reason to play it again. However, I do not recommend this DLC for those who're new to the game. With that in mind, for anyone who is interested in buying both the DLC and the base game, wait for a small discount of around 10 to 20% for both Heroes of Hammerwatch and Pyramid of Prophecy and simply buy both. You honestly will not regret it.
