Hell Pie

A surprise for me, i don't knew this game, but a like this. Congrats developers, good job. I'll wait for your new games.

This game stinks, I love that it reminds me of good old times, but is not compeling.

I've just beaten the game. It was fun, just not as well polished than AAA games (some gameplay mechanics don't really work as good as they could have). I still recommend it to anyone who wants to play a fun indie 3D platformer.

I tend to judge platformers on a few basic criteria: - Fluid character control - Non-frustrating camera - Interesting (read: weird) worlds/characters - Bonus: a story I care about By those standards Psychonauts 1 & 2 are my top-tier benchmarks by a huge margin. A Hat in Time, for comparison, would be on the low end of my "acceptable" spectrum (but still within it) due to controls and cameras that I had to constantly fight. Hell Pie falls somewhere in between. I really liked the character movement, the camera was only a hinderance in 2-3 very specific situations, the overall visual/humor/etc. themes were up my alley... but the 2nd half felt very unrealized. A lot of potential that if I had to hazard a guess was nixed for time/budget reasons. It's a shame that there isn't more of an appetite for silly "gross" games amongst the insufferable (and wildly hypocritical) puritans and comedy elitists because as a lifelong Ren & Stimpy, Invader Zim, Postal, Conker's Bad Fur Day, etc. fan I think games are the perfect medium for that style of humor. Still, I had fun for my ~10 hours of play. So is it worth it? I'd say yes if the theme appeals to you. It's definitely worthy of being considered a competent and entertaining 3d platformer, even if it isn't going to necessarily be a nostalgic masterpiece. It has some flaws, but nothing that ruins it.
