A nice addition to the game

This DLC is one of the better ones I've bought in at least the past year. It adds an extra gameplay mode, with 4 different arenas, and gives a good challenge. On top of that, you get some pretty damn good loot from the treasure rooms, even on the lower difficulties! 3-4x waves of 10 is enough to get legendary drops on aspirant. The tribute system lets you exchange tributes to get devotion points from something other than shrines, and the defense system is pretty cool. All in all, a nice addition to the game for a few bucks, and a great way to support the awesome developers at Crate.

Worth every bit of your money

It's a lot of fun. I did try it out for a couple of waves but didn't choose to pick up the loot. I failed to realise the nearest checkpoints are at 50 and 100. I might try again once my hand recovers. The voice-acting in this one is of a higher standard than usual. Love it but don't want Crate to spend too much for a non-gameplay feature. To add on to the below review: After the first 10 waves, you can earn tribute points to put up defenses(lightning, frost, etc.) or celestial blessings and so on. It has 3 difficulties: Aspirant, Challenger and Gladiator. Winning 100 waves will move you up to the next difficulty. Combat can get really rough so make sure your resistances are really high. (Mine weren't as my pyromancer was only lvl 40++ and running on some epics and random stuff.) You might want to respec your devotions/Skill Tree points and improve DA and get high HP regen, to enhance survival rate. All in all, it's worth your money and offers a lot of fun. Just a warning though: if you've finger/hand/arm problems, Crucible can get extremely hectic. The only way out is to either take a lot of breaks or just don't touch this. I'm putting up this warning as I doubt the developers are going to add yet another mode with even lower difficulty and more checkpoints.

Very good for what it is

Crucible is basically an arena, in which countless waves of enemies attack you. There are 150 waves of enemies waiting for hack and slash grand opera. It is not an expansion to the Grim Dawn story, but it can be well used for harvesting of items. Or just for fun and relax. We liked it and had a good time with this addon.

Perfect for testing builds and farming!

PROS: - Ideal for testing the strength of your build - A good way to scratch the monster slaying itch if you just want to have a short Grim Dawn session - Easy way to farm experience, powerful items or even devotion points! CONS: - Doing a lot of Crucible runs while still playing the main game can make you kind of overpowered. Especially the ability to buy Devotion points (using the points achieved by victories in Crucible, called Tributes) feels little cheesy as it takes lot of time and exploration to get them in the main story but you can get one in less than half an hour in Crucible. And it's very hard to resist the temptation and not buy any. (You can spend the Tributes on temporary upgrades for your next Crucible run or restarting at checkpoints - but why would you do that when you can get the precious stars instead? :D ) Also, you can level up and improve your gear really fast in Crucible - another way of possibly making the main game little too easy for you afterwards. Then again, this might be an adventage for some, as you can basically separate short intense Crucible battles and consequently pretty relaxed main game exploration. In any case, it's great to have these options!
