Gothic 2 Gold Edition

Just play it. Its one of the best RPGs ever made, despite its numerous flaws. The world is so dense and full of character that every step feels like tellins some story. Characters are interesting, quests are replayable, there are many ways to play and the game treats you harshly but fair. Just play it already!

A game that I start again and again and feels like home. Guys who played it in their childhood knows what I mean. To be honest, for new players the controls will take some getting used to, but it's worth it. the game itself is very atmospheric, sometimes difficult and motivates me immensely. A game I would take to a desert island.

This game reminds me of why I never want to purchase a game without having played a demo of it first. (If only that were a more viable option....) I wanted something with an Elder Scrolls-style open world, and this game was talked about as being in that vein. I bought the game on the strength of those reviews....but now believe them to be the glowing memories of those who loved the game in its day, but who are now blinded by nostalgia. The game has all the things we (begrudgingly) accepted as normal in the earlier days of gaming: nausea-inducing camera movement, dopey dialogue with goofy voice acting, awkward controls, not-terribly-user-friendly interface, NPCs who are sometimes more caricature than character, etc. The story seems engaging enough, and there seems to be plenty to do, if clicking the stove repeatedly to fry up some meat sounds like a good use of your time. Unless you're strongly motivated to play this game because of fond memories or a desire to play every CRPG or something, I'd just leave it be.

Best game i have ever played, the storyline alone is enough to give you chills down your spine... My advice; BUY IT!

Let be honest with you, the game will be seen by many as flawed according to modern standards. The fighting system really takes hours to train and master, there are no things as checkpoints, quest markers and only limited fast travel through a believable in world system. But the game did so much right, when it comes to world building, quests and dialogues (English voice acting seems to be ajoke though), so it is a 100% buy, if you are an old school gamer that does not mind dying and grinding a lot!
