A build containing the Union Patch is now live in GOG Galaxy and via offline installers. The classic version of Gothic is available on "Vanilla" public branch in GOG Galaxy and as an offline installer in "Extras" section.
La guerre fait rage dans le royaume de Myrtana. Les hordes orques ont envahi le territoire humain et le roi de cette terre a besoin de beaucoup de minerais pour forger assez d'armes afin que son armée puisse faire face à cette menace. Toute personne qui ne respecte pas la loi dans ces heures sombres est condamnée à servir dans l'immense colonie pénitentiaire de Khorinis afin d'extraire le si précieux minerai.
Toute la zone, surnommée "la Colonie", est encerclée par une barrière magique, une sphère de deux kilomètres de diamètre isolant la colonie pénale du monde extérieur. La barrière peut être traversée de l'extérieur vers l'intérieur - mais une fois dedans, personne ne peut s'échapper. La barrière était une arme à double tranchant - les prisonniers profitèrent rapidement de l'occasion et lancèrent une révolte. La Colonie fut divisée en trois factions rivales, et le roi fut forcé de négocier pour son minerai au lieu de l'exiger.
Vous avez été jeté à travers la barrière dans cette prison. Le dos au mur, vous devez survivre et former des alliances éphémères jusqu'à ce que vous arriviez enfin à vous échapper.

7/10 In my opinion. Generally Gothic II is one of two my kid life games. This is one of best RPG's ever made and a legendary game in Poland.

Solid Game that falters as it goes on.
I really enjoyed my time with Gothic 1. Particularly in the opening sections. From the music and sound design to the overall feeling of the world. But most of all I love the feeling of character progression this game gives. When you start out, you're nothing but a peasant who can barely hold a sword, hell you struggle to kill a single lizard-chicken thing. But as you level up and grow by increasing your weapon skill, your character will start to hold the sword a little better. Your hits will do more damage, your combos will flow much more elegantly and those lizard chickens? You'll be able to handle them with ease. Then the wolf will be your main adversary until you can increase your power again. It's great and really sells the 'zero to hero' fantasy. Sadly as you dry up the world of quests and finally commit to joining one of the three factions the game will take a turn for the worse, becoming much more linear as you follow the main questline to it's rather lacklustre destination, fighting a boss with the most fitting name of all. I must also note the incredibly outdated control scheme which has you press two buttons at a time to do a single action. You'll get used to it pretty fast, but it's still rather cumbersome. Still, it's a solid game that's well worth playing through and I recommend it to any RPG fan.

Trust me...you should buy this one
Okay. First, the biggest "cons" you may experience firsthand: FPS capped. Look for the 1.08K fix and install it (you may want to consider in installing some texture mods to enhance the experience). Second: as you may have read at other reviews, the controls are a little clunky. Just customize it in setting. Third: steep learning curve, which can only overcame with practice, practice, practice. If take those three things into consideration, I promise you may experience of the greatest RPGs of the new millennia.
