Nice Golf Themed Puzzle Game
This is not as much a golf game as a golf-themed puzzle game. Everything happens on a title-segmented horizontal plane (can't do diagonal, can't shoot a fraction of a tile) and a little bit on the vertical (you can jump a number of tiles over some obstacles). You get a number of cards which represent the moves you'll be able to play and you have a course to traverse with your goal being to get to the goal. There is no aiming of any kind, this is a pure visualization puzzle game where you need to visualize the sequence of cards you will play in various directions and your enjoyment of the game is directly related to whether or not you'll appreciate that. The game start with your traditional golf themed tropes (sand, mud, water) and then later on in the game you encounter what are definitely not golf-like terrain. About 2/3 of the game are easy courses and the last 1/3 are more challenging mind-benders (they are marked with a special 3-tiles icon). There are 120 courses total. I've done 93 in about 4-5 hours and will do the rest over a longer period of time as they make for a nice puzzle to solve when I have short periods of downtime. You only need to do the easy courses to unlock everything and you can do any of the harder courses in any order you like. The vast majority of the mechanics in the game are pretty straightforward and many of the easier courses will act as a tutorial to introduce you to the various mechanics. Occasionally, I've found myself unsure how a given card would play in a certain situation, but ultimately you can just try it and see as there is no penalty for failing a course, plus you can even undo your previous moves in a given course. The graphics are pleasant and the soundtrack is relaxing. The courses are well thought of and will make you think and go "aha" when you've found the solution. I would recommend this game without reservation for puzzle lovers.
