Favorite Rpg Series!
Well this one is by far the best addition to gog. Anyone who's loved old school turn based rpgs will love these games.

Original Exile the only one worthwhile.
The original exile series was better. Mainly because of the amount of customization. the whole series by Spiderweb Software has gone down from there & is the Epitome of lazy programming. If I wanted a graphic novel where I can make a few railroaded choices along the line I'd buy a choose your own adventure book.

Could be great if I could SEE $hit, but
... this game desperately needs an update to be playable on modern machines/screens. It could (and I am sure it WOULD) become one of the best-selling RPGs of all time. However, as of right now ... I feel like I need to dig out my 20-year old PC from the bottom of my basement and visit a hundred garage sales to find a 20-year old 14-inch CRT monitor: This game is unplayable on any modern screen (well, it may be playable on a 70-inch monitor or something like that). But not on most standard monitors in use today. Everything is SO INCREDIBLY SMALL, no, strike that... TINY... on my 25-inch monitor with 1920x1200 native resolution that I can't see a damn thing. Try the game's native resolution, and everything looks like carp to the point that I don't want to even think about putting any more time in the game. And NO, I am not an idiot who likes games for flash and flare (i.e. graphics). See my 5-Star review of 25-year old X-COM: UFO Defense right here on GOG. I don't mind pixel-art or old-fashion visuals. But while I can play UFO Defense in a 1024x768 window with serviceable visuals (as in I can SEE $hit) I have found no way to play Geneforge in any manner where I can see said $hit.

Worst Spiderweb series ever!
I was a big fan of Spiderweb software for many years and only because I got started on their EXILE game series. I purchased all of the Exile series full price and loved the randomness and replayability of all of that series. Without ever trying a trial version, I purchased the entire Geneforge series through Spiderweb and was greatly disappointed. Geneforge lacks the creativity of Exile & seems to have been thrown together without much thought. It's also not a very long lasting game. Also - if you can afford the frustration of wearing out your mouse rather frequently, then choose this game. I just purchased Avadon through GOG today and am hoping it's much better than Geneforge. But if it isn't I won't be out over $100 like I was from purchasing Geneforge through Spiderweb. I wish that GOG would offer the entire Exile series. I think many of the rpg/adventure folks would really enjoy it.
