No text appears on the menu options when you load the game. If you manage to click through the menus without text and launch a game, its crashes

Amazing game, needs a remake.
There is no other simulation game like this, one that gives a true feeling and control of the Mob during the 1920s. Replayability is out the window with the number of options, choices, and generation in maps and mobs. It's funny how many games try to reflect this and don't even come close, yet nobody has just copied this model and made an amazing game. The only downside currently is the wonky patching and modding you have to apply to actually play the game and the lack of instructions/tutorials, but I recall off memory from when I was a child. Someone remake this damn game.

How to fix problems:
This is what worked for me. Step 1: Set custom default executable in "Configure" options to "gangsters.exe". For some reason, the default executable is set to GOG's own .exe file that breaks everything. Optional if you're having, issues like no text in the menus, follow the other steps. Step 2: Install fix mods from PCGamingWiki Step 3: Verify/Repair files. The fix mods still work, but the game crashes until you verify files afterward. P.S. Some people had luck disabling Vsync/Gsync and running in compatibility mode.

Doesn't work.
Was a great game while it worked. Doesn't actually work anymore, without going through a time consuming VM process. Wish I hadn't paid money for it.
