welcome to gangsters.

an exciting experience of managing your simulated city of organized crime. its quite funny how many of the sound effects are stock assets (surprised they didnt use a wilhelm scream) the game works well enough in linux wine/proton with some fixes to the gdi settings i was able to play using dxwrapper to fix the menus. unfortunately the game is hardcoded for 640x480 windowed or fullscreen at the menu what this game honestly needs is a modern source port for compatibility seems unfortunate that a gem like this is too complicated to get working on modern systems having played the original in 98/99 i was ready to experience it again. things have changed... dual monitors, high resolution Widescreen, video recording and streaming...

loved this game THEN, Love it NOW

Don't down-rate the game if you can't figure out how to make your "operating system" perform. it's not the game's fault, nor it is GOG's fault. There is a 'mouse freeze' patch (which also fixes the missing text issue) here on the review page. Win is not the only operating system out there. if you want YOUR hardware to run the way YOU want it - try a different OS. This game ran 'out of the box' for me and runs GREAT. NO issues at all. That being said... If you're a fan of Prohibition-era gangsters, or strategy games in general - this game should be in your library! there is a bit of a learning curve, and a LOT of info can be at your fingertips at many points in the game (Not quite enough to be overwhelming, but at times, it gets close). with SO MANY ways to win - the game has a good replay-ability for the long term... Not bad for a buck and a half! :-)

Game review not port review

It makes me very sad that this great game suffers because people review port and not the game. One of the best games ever made. It has little problems with not so intuitive UI, but everything else is absolute masterpiece. Turn based, RTS combo open world management game with RPG elements, crime sim. Nothing never came close to it in the genre. There are ways to make this game work on any Windows OS, although some will and patience is required.
