Freespace 2

Just an amazing space sim. No - Physics isn't fully obeyed, there's not a million and one functions needed to perform - but it's an immersive story from start to finish. You're part of an armada, and no you don't get to pilot capitol ships, yet you're able to make the difference each time targeting key areas of enemy ships, or scanning areas and leading other squadrons and special ops missions. Like halflife 2 which has a story unwind before you as you play, Freespace 2 matches it as your squadmates or commander add their bit over the ships radio. Get some nice headphones, check out the spruced up scp mods for better graphics, and enjoy.

I highly recommend this game to anyone. I remember playing this game when it first came out when I ws in college, it was the cause of some of the lowest grades I have ever gotten. Thank you GOG for letting me play it again.

It's all been said by everyone else here. This is simply the best space sim ever made. If you like the genre at all, this is a must have. Buy the game here, get the add-ons, enjoy. One of the best gaming experiences to be had, with the the graphics are still astounding. Gameplay is there. Fun is there. Game developers, study this game and learn!

I want to thank GOG for bringing this game back. I did not know what I missed when I busy finding jobs, going up my career, etc. I am so, so happy I am playing this game. Over and over and over and over again...
