Best team-based Superhero game ever
Arkham Asylum may have claimed the title of best comic book game ever, the Freedom Force games are still the best team-based superhero games ever. Great stories with interesting twists, fun combat and awesome characters. ("For Liberty!")

A taste of 4-colour comics.
The mechanics are a bit janky and the controls aren't very intuitive. However, the colourful characters and compelling story make for a truly wonderful experience. Very reactive world with plenty of opportunity for creativity. Challenging too.

Freedom Force Games - Awesome
I really enjoyed playing both of these games and really wished the studio had kept making them. Uses the same engine as Never Winter Nights.

Very fun sequel with a few improvements
Style and gameplay are identical to the original Freedom Force, so anyone familiar with that game will feel right at home here. Those who are unfamiliar should catch up quickly, but although this game works pretty well as a stand-alone title, the plot is connected to previous events, so knowledge of them would be preferable, or many things will be unclear. I'd say this game has aged slightly better than its three years older predecessor. In terms of graphics, it looks significantly nicer and everything is more detailed, and in terms of gameplay, it seems to be more approachable for less patient players. The original Freedom Force was often a pretty harsh and demanding game, which didn't leave much margin for mistakes, and this is mostly not the case here (except for maybe a couple of missions). Health canisters, which were a rarity before, are now generously scattered across the maps, the "heroic revival" ability is much more potent, and heroes overall feel tougher and more powerful. It also adds a few useful QoL improvements, like showing which heroes leveled up on the training screen, or the possibility to view details of every skill without the need to unlock it first. Of course, apart from the OG squad, which returns in the full package, there are new heroes too. I found the ones from the WWII era to be all rather "meh" and boring, but Tombstone, Genie, and the Aztec guy are awesome (perhaps even OP), and I used them very often. Unfortunately, this game is also quite short, which is its biggest drawback. The raw number of missions might not show it, but the campaign on normal difficulty took me approximately half or maybe two-thirds the time to beat compared to the first Freedom Force campaign. This is a shame because it really feels like the game ends at the moment it should pick up steam again. There should be at least NG+ mode, so all the high-level heroes wouldn't feel so underused.
