Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower. Take on the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber, and rise through the ranks of the resistance to prove yourself as a charismatic leader.
Liberate supplies, scavenge weapons and use the 'recruit and command' system to grow the resistance and lead up to 12 freedom fighters into strategic conflicts throughout the campaign. Travel across the city and complete interconnected missions where your actions in one level affect the battles in another.
Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive's cult classic is now available digitally in its original form for the first time.
About the soundtrack
The Freedom Fighters Soundtrack features 18 tracks that are produced by acclaimed music composer Jesper Kyd. Combining live choir performances by the Hungarian Radio Choir with techno beats and other electronic instruments, Kyd effortlessly captures the vibe of the game and the epic quest to liberate New York from a foreign superpower.

Runs great, supports 4k, and extremely fun!
I play it probably once a year on my original xbox, but it is time to retire that copy. It supports 2k, 4k resolutions, no stutters or hitches, and graphics still look decent compared to games in that timeframe.
This gives the classic new lifes, and hopefully a chance for people who haven't play it before to experience the game.
PRO TIP : Don't aim in during close combat as the zoom is a bit too enhanced, and it will end your characters life pretty quick!
GOG has resurrected another abandonware game! Freedom Fighters is easily one of my favorite games ever despite its age and simplicity, it's a cult classic for good reason!
GOG has patched it to work natively on modern systems with any resolution and fixed so many issues like making borderless windowed mode work, plus ultra widescreen working beautifully is nice.
This game was notoriously annoying to run on modern systems, sometimes it only worked on fullscreen, sometime sound didn't work on cutscenes for some reason, sometimes it just refused to be recorded with any software at above 5 FPS, sometimes mouse sensitivity just never worked, sometimes all kinds of strange bizarre issues would come up and it was different with every operating system and hardware.
But GOG has fixed all of these issues, just please add in an FOV slider in the launcher and you're golden.
While short, Freedom Fighters is an amusing game that sets the player in what is basically "Red Dawn". A Soviet invasion of the United States causes your hero plumber character Chris to rally the New York resistance to rise up against the red invaders. Interesting gameplay, easy to pickup controls, and a stellar soundtrack make this title a timeless classic. I believe many people missed this game upon its original release, but it is worth the playthrough.
