is a nice game, a master piece
All is perfect but... KEX 1 engine still impact on the performance. I think Nightdive Studios uses ProjectX source port as a base, an OpenGL source port with a lot of performance issues. Anyway, is better than nothing. I love Descen 1, Descent 2, Descent 3, and Forsaken also is a spectacular game to this franchise game likes.

Amazing "Descent Clone"
I remember when this game was for the N64 and it brings back memories. Descent has always been a truly amazing line of games and the new Overload is a great addition from the same makers. Butm not this game, I have to say the if you love Descent (which is why I mention the games above) you should like this. It's got a great soundtrack and all but what I will say, don't go into it expecting Descent, it's really a game in it's own right that follows Descent's "formula" and gameplay ideas. But I'll say it, I spent many hours back on the N64 version and always came back to it over and over. I am so glad this has been remastered and is back out again for enjoyment again. I recommend it if you love Descent as I said and are looking to add games that follow the same idea to your collection. This is one of the best "Descent clones" out there. So be prepared for a fun time with this. I have 5 stars because I have nothing bad to say about this game. It's well done and was well developed. And thanks for remastering it devs, I of all appreciate a game of this caliber making a reappearance.

I want to love it.
Truly I do. But from everything I have seen in other reviews and comments online. This is the PC version fixed and working. While I do love being able to play this again. It's just not the same game that I played. Playing it on N64 wasn't too different from playing it on Playstation. I loved fighting the bots with a friend or even alone. I don't remember much of this campaign like experience but I'm sure it was there. Even my brother, who played on it for awhile had the same things to say. He just wasn't enjoying it as much as the one for Playstation and the menu kept confusing us both. Just seemed like there should be things there that were not. That said it's still a great game and everything from the PC version (without the bot arena fights) is here. I don't know why the pc version didn't have bots but I assume they wanted us all to fight each other online and be satisfied with that. I want to use cheats, I want to roam around and have crazy explosions everywhere. I miss a lot of things that aren't present. {it feels like a lot}

Remastered? You mean cross-engine port..
So, I'm probably the wrong audience for this as I like archiving the original games so that way I can play the game as close as to what the original developer intended when it was released. The word "Remastered" to me means more towards an improvement of the audio or video of the game. I just don't consider this a re-master as it's actually not using the same engine. Not using the same engine means it's a different game entirely as the timing and feel of the game is different and it really shows in how it plays. It looks better, sure, because you now have hi-res graphics, but it definitely doesn't feel like the original game. I guess that the system requirements of this tells a more accurate story as the original Forsaken actually ran on pretty crappy hardware, and in no way needed more than a P3 to run (I think w/ a Riva TNT). Improvement of texture resolution should just require more video memory, or perhaps a more powerful video card but in no way should the logic require 3x more processing power. Even the character selection was changed from the original game. $20 just seems like a lot for ripping the data from an old game to feed into your own engine.
