Forgive Me Father

This game is pretty much what it says on the tin, a boomer shooter with cool Lovecraft atmosphere. If that sounds good to you, you'll sure enjoy it enough for a playthrough. It does have some negatives. There is no real feedback that you're being hit, so I very often died without even realizing I was in danger. The weapons are good but nothing really amazing or innovative and sort of lack "punch" outside of the shotgun. Having a revolver and not making it feel like a hand cannon is always a crime in shooters. Overall though these are minor complaints which knock the game down a star but don't prevent it from being fun and worth your time.

The art and sound effects are great. But the level design is so one note that it wears out its welcome far too early for my tastes. I'd suggest picking up the OST instead of the game, if you're going to give the developers any business.

I had a lot of fun playing through Forgive Me Father and I am in the middle of my second playthrough with the other playable character. The game does many things right: the gunplay is satisfying and intense, the awesome music kicks in just at the right moments, and there are some pretty cool levels to play through. Also, the comic book style of the game is unique and pretty well done! I know that usually the story is not the most important aspect of boomer shooters but I felt that the game started out really well when it came to storytelling. It dropped some good hints as to what was happening and I was genuinely curious to uncover the mystery... but unfortunately, the climax of the story fell pretty flat. I thought this was a missed opportunity. Nevertheless, Forgive Me Father is an excellent FPS with a good replay value and in my opinion, it is one of the best shooters of 2022.

Forgive me father, comme vous le remarquerez vite, dispose d'un style graphique particulier, original car peu utilisé dans les jeux (un style "dessin" comme on a pu le voir dans XIII). L'action est bien présente, monte crescendo. Le style de jeux des deux personnages, prévu pour être différent, reste somme toute le même, mais leurs "pouvoirs" sont différents. Le bestiaire est assez varié, la direction artistique et le level-design sont plutôt réussi. Ce n'est pas le meilleur boomer shooter (mes préférés restants Ion Fury et Amid Evil), mais c'est un bon jeu, pour tous les amateurs de boomer shooter et de FPS. A acheter lors des promos ! :)
