I jwouldn't run for me.. .

When I tried to run this after installation I got a doalog box from Program Compatibiity Assistant saying that this may not work correctly because it causes security and performance issues. If I ignore the dialog box the game hangs at the startup. It offers a fix, which is a download that looks suspiciously like a Games for Windows setup executable. I am not happy . . .

Best RPG and it works on here!

Getting Fallout 3 to work on Windows 10 is a pain but GOG makes it easy. One of the best, if not the best single player RPG of all time. My personal favorite single player ever. GOTY edition adds so many hours of additional content and it is so worth getting epecially for the first time or even for another playthrough. Overall 9.99/10

Fallout in name only

If you ever played Fallout 1 and/or 2 (or New Vegas) you'd probably associate Fallout games with things like: The writing with its deep, elaborate lore and detailed world building as well as dark, sarcastic humor and interesting ethical dilemmas. With fun '50s sci-fi pop-culture references incorporated into the setting/world, not just sprinkled on top. Choices, that are often complex and (tangents on) philosophical, branching paths and endings that are influenced by actions and statements made throughout the game. A world that feels alive (in a post-apolyptic sense). I experience none or very little of the aforementioned things as I played through Fallout 3.

(New Vegas) "Hold my beer"

The good quests are too far in between, there is a lot of uninspiring filler here. There are a few "cities" but no worthy "factions", no arena and not many interesting things to do as a "bad" person. There are fewer npc's than the previous games (Oblivion, Morrowind). The map is smaller. The main questline is, also, kind of trash. It's a good warm-up to New Vegas though. Thank god I played that game during the pandemic and I felt the fun that can be had using the same engine and assets in a different way. Also, the world design of Obsidian: far better in their game. Fallout 3 can keep you awake in a pinch, and prepare you for the ultimate comparison when you get to play Obsidian's game.
